Lesson Plan: Word Choice
Lesson Plan: Word Choice

1.) What I’m going to be teaching is a lesson on word choice! I will have the students take a
piece of paper and fold it into 4 squares. Once the paper is folded and then unfolded
showing the 4 squares. I will, by demonstrating on my own paper, and the categories I
will label at the top will be Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb. I will list a few (3 bullets) of
examples under each category, such as for verb (Sprint, Panting, Strengthen). I will have
some example sentences on the board such as “I am so ______ to be here.” "I feel as if
my heart is [verb, adverb, etc.] so [verb]. “The snow outside is [ ].”
This can also be used for emotions or seasons. We will work on the examples together.
2.) The questions I anticipate from my students are what adverbs/adjectives/ other describing
words are. I anticipate they’ll ask for help on ideas or more examples. Maybe they’ll also
ask how to fold the paper, how many examples to give, or what words I might be
specifically looking for.
