অকে ে let alone ব্যবহৃে হয় । থেখকে ইেযারে েমকে জানাি জন্য What's.....like/What
does...look like ব্যবহৃে হয় । ইহা োধািনে: দুটি ড্যাশ এবং
He can't walk a kilometre, five kilometres.

sooner...........than এি অে ে বিং। 8. As soon as
বিং ...... েবুও জােীয় Sentence-এ একেি ব্যবহাি হয়। would থোন এেটি ঘটনা ঘটাি োকে োকে আি এেটি ঘটনা ঘটা থবাঝাকে
rather এেটি modal .ইহা present form এি আকে বকে । দুটি as soon as ব্যবহৃে হয়.
োজ বা অবস্থাি মকধ্য দুটিই েঠিন, োি মকধ্য থেকে এেটি পছন্দনীয় As soon as he saw me, he called me.
হকে would rather বকে । োধািনে: এি পকি than োকে ।
9. Used to
1. I would rather starve than steal.
2. I would rather die than beg. অেীকেি অরনয়রমে অভযাে বুঝাকে েেে person এ used to
5. Had Better ব্যবহৃে হয়

Had better- অে ে বিং ভাকো/েবুও ভাকো। I used to drink water.

You had better go home now. (থোমাি বিং এখন বারি
যাওয়াই ভাকো বা উরিে)
এ ধিকনি Sentence-এ যরে ও had োকে েবু এটা Past tense
নয়। এটা Present এি Future অে ে প্রোশ েকি had better-
এি পি Infinitive to বকে না। েব েো verb এর Present
form বকে। থযমন:
Had Better এেটি modal .ইহা present form এি আকে বকে
। থোন রেছু েিা ভাে এমন বুঝাকে had better?
1. You had better leave the place.
10.It is time/It is high time:
থোকনা োজ েিাি েময় ইরেমকধ্যই অরেবারহে হকয় থেকছ। সুেিাং
আি রবেম্ব না েকি এখনই োজটি শুরু েিা উরিে এরূপ বুঝাকে it is
time/It is high time-এি ব্যবহাি হয়। থযমন:
1. It is time we ————
Ans. It is time we went home.
2. It is high time we ——
It is high time we changed our eating habits.
Note: It is time/It is high time এি পি verb োধািণে
past tense হয়।
11.No sooner had ........than, scarcely
had ....... when, hardly had
........when:
এ জােীয় Structure দ্বািা ‘থযকে ...... না থযকে’, ‘থখকে.......না
থখকে’, ‘থপ ৌঁছাইকে ..........না থপ ৌঁছাইকে ইেযারে অে ে প্রোশ পায়।
এ থেকে than বা when পূব ে পয েন্ত Past Perfect tense এবং
when বা than-এি পকিি অংশ Past Indefinite হয়।
1. No sooner had I gone out than he came.
2. Scarcely had we reached the station when
the train left.
3. Hardly had he reached the college when the
examination began.
12. As if/As though ‘থযন’ অে ে প্রোশ েকি।
As if বা as though-এি প্রেম অংশ Present Indefinite হকে
পকিি অংশ Past Indefinite হয়। আবাি প্রেম অংশ past tense
হকে পকিি অংশ Past Perfect tense হয়।
1. He tells the matter as if he knew it.
2. He told the matter as if he had known it.
3. She proceeded as though I had not spoken.
Note: থোকনা রেছু হওয়া বুঝাকে Unreal Past-এি অে ে প্রোশ
েিকে as though/as if/wish-এি পকি were বকে।
1. He runs fast as though he were a mad.
2. He donates money as if he were a rich man.
3. I wish I were a child again!
Note: Wish-এি থেকে were (to be verb) ছািাও verb-এি
Present form-এি পূকব ে could বা mightও বেকে পাকি। I
wish I could fly in the sky.
13.There এি ব্যবহাি
There = Subject রহকেকব বকে । প্রোিকভে:- There থে
আমিা থমাটামুটি রেনটি ভাকে ভাে েকি োরে,
ura? (বগুিা েেদূি?) It is 200
1) Introductory there 2) Expletive there 3)
Adverb there
Object Singular হকে Verb Singular হয় । Singular
Verb হে is,was,has.(v+s,es) .
Object Plural হকে Verb Plural হয় । Plural Verb হে
are,were,have
There was a mistake in this later - এই রিঠিকে এেটি ভুে
রছে ।
There are tigers in the jungle-এই বকন বাঘ োকে ।
14.It এি ব্যবহাি
i. রশশুকে বুঝাকে it ব্যবহাি েিা হয় । রেঙ্গ জানা থনই এমন ব্যরিকে
বুঝাকে it ব্যবহৃে হয়
থযমন: The child is looking at its mother. (রশশুটি োি
মাকয়ি রেকে োোকে ।)
ii. অকিেন থোন পোে ে বা রনকূষ্ট থোন প্রাণীকে বুঝাকে it ব্যবহাি
েিা হয় ।
থযমন: Where is the book? I kept it on the table.
(এখাকন it = book) The cow is a useful animal. It lives
on grass. (It = cow).
iii. েময় (time), দূিত্ব (distance), আবহাওয়া (weather),
োপমাো (weather) বুঝাকে It ব্যবহৃে হয়
েময় বুঝাকে: What time is it? (এখন েে বাকজ?)
It is 11 O'clock. (এখন এোিটা বাকজ ।)
What day is it? (আজ রে বাি?)
It is Friday or today is Friday. (আজ শুক্রবাি ) What is
the date? (আজ োরিখ েে?) It is the tenth of
September. How long will it take to reach there?
(থেখাকন থপ ছকে েেেণ োেকব?) It will take 1 hour to
