Nowadays, when the world economy is more and more developmental, a consequence of this is the

increase of crime. Some people suppose that prisoners must be punished stronger by augment prison
sentences. However, other people think that it is a better way if offenders must not live in prison for a
long time. I will discuss both aspects in next sections.

There are many benefits when defaulters can be lived longer in jail. Firstly, captives will have more time
to rethink about their mistakes, past and see the future. For example, a man who stole money of a state
organization then is adjudged with 5 years. However, this time may be short for his offence so the time
intension will give him much time to think to redo his life. Secondly, if prisoners live longer in
penitentiary, they will be isolated from society so ratio of crime can be reduced.

On the other aspect, many people think environment of prison will affect negatively to offenders. In jail,
there are many kinds of people so prisoners are hard to improve their characters. In addition, when
culprits who killed any victim before will live with other criminal people, they may kill anyone against
them. Therefore, the jail time reducing should be implemented to help prisoners back to their normal
life earlier.

Finally, both aspects about prison sentences have many benefits but in my personal, I think the
punishment for culprits should be decreased by reducing time of prison sentences to give them another
chance to return society.
