Twelve Angry Men Act II Study Questions

1. Who do the jurors think changed his vote?


The jurors think juror number five changed his vote.

2. Who actually changed his vote? Why?


Juror number nine changed his vote because he wanted to hear more from juror number
eight.

3. Why is FOUR convinced the woman’s testimony is so persuasive?


The woman remembers insignificant details. Juror number four already believes the
defendant is guilty.

4. What does the discussion about the el train call into question about the old man’s
testimony?
It is now questionable if the old man actually heard the boy and his father arguing over
the sound of the el.

5. When NINE suggests that the old man may have lied, what explanation does he offer?
Juror number nine suggest that the old man just wanted attention (wanted to feel
noticed/needed after years of neglect) , and that he truly made himself believe the
testimony he gave at the trial.

6. Why do you think FIVE changes his vote to not guilty?


He believes there is a reasonable doubt. ( after getting a new perspective on the old man's
testimony and the evidence involved with the knife 

7. Is it ever proven that the boy did not yell, “I’m going to kill you!”?
No

8. Do you think EIGHT deliberately provokes THREE into threatening to kill him? Explain.
Not at first, but he uses juror number there's "hot temper" to his advantage once he sees
that juror number three is getting worked up.

9. How are the endings of Acts I and II similar?


Both Act I and Act II end with a cliff hanger induced by juror number eight.
