Summary/ Rationale:
Overall, I chose to use the majority of the outline of my storyboard
for the MM part 1 project, as I like to follow the same consistency for
each lesson for my fourth graders (ex: Objective first, then whole class
activities, partner work, independent activities, etc. in that order). I did,
however, change the format of the lesson and changed it from a Flipchart
to a PPT presentation to be able to change some of the graphics, as well as
to add voiceovers to each slide. This way, the lesson is also made more
independent for students to be able to complete on their own as well. I
first changed the “design” of each slide using a PowerPoint template. I
really liked that Whitespace put emphasis on adding value to graphics, so I
thought adding a background like this would engage my students more. The
text, Whitespace also talked about limiting the amount of “white space” on
graphics so I did add some more images, links, and q.r. codes to these
slides as well added in some headings to further explain what information
slides were containing. Lastly, I was able to change the fonts of some of
the text, especially the text on the “assessment” slide that contains
information included from MM part 2. Hopefully my students will be more
engaged with the additional audio, graphics, and design principles I was
able to change in the lesson!
