LESSON PROPER  Activity 7 (online)

Interview two people online regarding their perspectives on the new

normal system. Write their initial answers and afterwards summarized
their responses on the space provided.

Interviewee 1: Zeri Mari Ian B. Ramirez

People should adjust to this new normal system because this is how we
have to live from now on. According to the Japanese, this pandemic is a
proof on how much fragile the system of the society that is why a lot of
the countries are suffering big losses to their economics. That is why
instead of trying to revert to how it was before, it is better to embrace
the new system and change it so that we will not suffer like the previous
pandemic. The westerners way of thinking and it also applies to most
Filipinos are that they have to eradicate all of the case of Covid 19 and
that the virus should be removed or disappear but that is impossible.
Even if we say that a vaccine will be created next year, this virus will not
vanish. It will be part of the new society. Detecting all cases of Covid 19?
impossible, there are patients who are asymptomatic therefore they
cannot be traced. What we should do is improve our health, Asians do
this so why can't we? A successful country like Japan does it, why won't
we? Data would even suggest that it would be hard to identify every
case and we would not know who is infected or not so that means that
the best way is to do something for yourself. Vaccines are not the main
solution to this, it is just a partial solution. The virus would not cease to
exist even if vaccines will be created so humans should adjust to the
world and nature. The world does not adjust to you, you adjust to the
world.

Interviewee 2: Daniella Ivan Cruz

In my opinion, the new normal system is not for everyone. Although of

course, we don't have a choice, the setup itself is problematic as it
becomes a nuisance and only benefits those who have the privileges.
Most specifically that PH is a third world country, a huge percentage of
our population will not be able to keep up with the system. First off, the
internet connection in our country is so slow and expensive. Given that
most things like work and education our done online, not everyone
would be able to keep. There would still be people who will be left
behind. Second, it hindrances us a lot of things especially in the labor
sector. A lot of Filipinos have lost their job due to the limitations set
aside by the pandemic. Unless they can find one online, the workers of
our country will continue to suffer. Lastly, we have an incompetent
government which continuously romanticizes our situation and believes
that our resilience as Filipinos can help us adapt with this setup.
However, adapting to this setup shouldn't be done in a long-term as
right now we should be able to find ways to go back to what we're doing
nine months ago. The new normal setup is supposedly there to help us
minimize the spread of the virus, yet right now, I believe that we are just
using it as an excuse to not address the root cause of it all which is the
Corona Virus itself.

Summary

The respondents of the interviews perspective is that people should

adjust and the system itself is not for everyone. The first respondents
sees that people should adjust because this is implemented now and
w will b living this system from now on. Most of the country suffer from
major economic losses resulted by this pandemic. And rather than to
wish that things will get back to normal is that we must learn now to
adapt and embrace the system. The time that the virus is in our system it
is not easy to eliminate it even we have the vaccine. There are
asymptomatic patients who we can’t track and the respondent suggest
to adjust from the world because world will not adjust for us so we must
improve our health.

The second respondent see the new normal system is not for everyone,
only those who have power and money can benefit from this kind of
system. Saying that our country is in the third world country, it means
most of us cannot go to the flow on how governments wants us to be. In
the new set upmost of our move is done online but some employee or
student can’t comply or doesn’t have the capacity to be on trend due to
slow internet and worst no connection at all. There are also high
unemployment due to skeletal work force. The respondents notice how
incompetent the government was because of how they use Filipino
resiliency as an excuse and not focusing nor working on the main
problem.
Activity I.

Paraphrase the given text below:

These jaguars are among thousands of animals fleeing deadly

wildfires ripping through Brazil's Pantanal wetlands. More than
15,756 fires - triple the number of last year - have caused 2.9m
hectares of devastation to their habitat, which is one of the
world's most biodiverse hotspots.
Although some fires occur naturally during the dry season,
Environment Minister Ricardo Salles says this year's blazes have
spread to "gigantic proportions", with a state of emergency
declared in the region. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has
rejected the criticism of his government's response as
"disproportionate".
Experts say although it's not yet possible to know how many
animals have died in the fires in the area, the loss of life is feared
to be huge. Tap the link in our bio to see more pictures and learn

Jaguars are one of the thousands of animal vanish during the incident of

number of fires was triple than last year and almost 2.9m hectares burnt,
which most of the unique habitat had destroyed.

Some fires are cause of drought but it is worse this year resulting to
declare state of emergency according to Ricardo Salles an environment

Activity II.

Answer the question given as if you were a contestant in Mr. or Ms.

Universe, and make sure to include a quoted statement from an author
or any notable person in relation to your answer to make it convincing.

What is the most important issue your generation is

facing and how can you help address it?

I think climate change is the most important issue we are facing. I

would like to take this opportunity to use my voice to be the
instrument of our nature to wake up us all to the current situation of our
land. If we think it is impossible we will try and work for it to be
possible. We must take responsibility to heal our land and the fruit of
our actions will harvest soon. According to Greta Thunberg - a young
environmental activist, ”You are never too small to make a difference”,
so if we are united we will make a big impact to change the system and
also to help our environment.

Activity III.

Write a summary for the article given below entitled Three keys to
Education in the New Normal. Pass it on an MS word file

In this time of pandemic, face to face education was change and shifts
a new learning set up to distance learning with the use of online and
modular learning. This is for students to continue their learning process
while hey are at home. Teach for the Philippines (TFP), a non-profit
enterprise that works to give all Filipino students the best education
and learning they needed. TFP gathered public school teachers to train
and coordinate to the local government units. This is for the
implementation of distance learning because face-to-face is not an ideal
due to our current health situation. According to Clarissa Delgado,
founder and CEO of TFP will conduct seven-week pre deployment
training for the public teachers. The Summer Institute aims to recreate
the learning experience at home and they prepare teachers with three
keys to education which is the knowledge, skills and mindset.
Knowledge, it focuses on the discussion of the lesson and on how will
students memorize, understand and write. While skills pertain to the
technological development of students and on how will they perform
media, information and technology skills that a 21 st learner should have.
The last key of education in new normal is mindset, it is said to be the
most important because there are lot of educational issues happened
but still we need to stay focused on the mission to provide a quality
education for the children. Even there are people who is against to this
set-up TFP continue to stay positive guided by their core values while
making decisions.
