The Iris recognition technology includes the professional acquisition device, core algorithm and
whole process of image acquisition and processing feature extraction and feature matching.
Iris Advantages
Stability
The unique texture features of human iris will be fully developed at the age of 10 months, and
remain the same throughout the life.
Uniqueness
While the world’s population is 7 billion, the possibility of the same iris feature codes of any two
persons is almost zero.
Flexibility
The iris recognition technology can be easily integrated into existing security systems or used as a
stand-alone system.
Reliability
The iris images collected in infrared light are unique and it is impossible to lose, steal or
counterfeit iris images.
Non-intrusion
Iris images are collected in a non-contact manner at more than 20cm to prevent cross
transmission of bacteria and viruses. Provide the higher accuracy in the meantime.
Safety
The infrared light applied for iris image acquisition is weak, less irritant to human eyes than the
sunlight. Thus, no safety problem can be caused.
SOLUTIONS
1) Iris safety management system in financial, banking and social insurance field.
With the continuous development of financial industry, the competition of financial market is
intensifying, the bank management is increasingly standardized, and safety has become a top
priority. The application of iris recognition products is the trend of banking industry.
2) Iris-based access control and attendance system in power, nuclear power station and mining
field.
Compared with the commonly used attendance system and fingerprint identification technology
on the market, the attendance system based on iris recognition can help to fundamentally
eliminate substitution. In addition, the characteristics of high security, rapid recognition and easy
operation are incomparable for other biometric systems.
According to the hospital characteristics, IRISIAN has created the special wireless iris-based
intelligence access control system for medical institutions, which not only provides good
experience or operation but also guarantees the highest level of security.
The iris identification system can be applied in key protection areas, channels and ports. Different
permissions are granted to the authorized personnel. If the unauthorized personnel attempt to
pass without permission, the system will automatically take measures to limit such personnel
within the alert space.
The iris information is collected, registered and verified, and the basic information of personnel is
recorded. The identity information of people entering and exiting is recorded and summarized,
and reports and curve charts are generated to provide data for decision-making of the leadership.
6) Armory management system based on iris recognition.
The iris recognition and digital automatic control technology are applied in the system for each
phase of use of light firearms such as guns and ammunition, to form an effective and accurate
digital platform for intelligent management of warehousing-in/out, warehouse regulation,
operation and maintenance of guns, etc.
The iris recognition technology developed by the company is based on the advantages of anti-
falsification of living body recognition, non-substitutability, etc., thus replacing the traditional
identification of “user name and password”. The identity can be verified without passwords.
Our company adopts the international advanced iris recognition technology in combination with
examination characteristics to practically prevent cheating, guarantee the examination rules and
meet the most urgent demands of customers with the fewest funds.
Based on the international advanced living body feature identification, the scheme introduces the
comprehensive solution of safety monitoring and attendance management of production
personnel. The system is the enterprise personnel safety management application system of the
highest integrity and cost performance at present.
Fingerprint vs. Iris Recognition
Weaknesses of Fingerprints
• Fingerprint false accepts rate varies by vendor, and is approximately 1 in 100,000. Iris
recognition false accepts rate is 1 in 1.2 million statistically.
• Most high-end fingerprint systems measure approximately 40-60 characteristics; iris recognition
looks at about 240 characteristics to create the unique Iris identification.
• Iris recognition can perform all matches in a high speed environment, whereas fingerprint
searches take much longer, may require filtering, and may return multiple candidate matches.
• The long association of fingerprints with criminals makes this biometric an uncomfortable
method of authentication for some people.
• Most systems require physical contact with a scanner device that needs to be kept clean
(hygiene issue).
• The large number of players (different algorithms) means no fingerprint standards exist. Iris
recognition has one core standard, which is flexible and open to all partners, and has been the
foundation for Oki, Panasonic and LG hardware solutions.
• Fingerprint readability also may be affected by the work an individual does. For example,
transportation workers such as mechanics, food workers, or maintenance workers may present
fingerprints that are difficult to read due to dryness or the presence of foreign substances, such as
oil or dirt, on fingers.
• Proven highest accuracy: iris recognition had no false matches in over two million cross-
comparisons, according to Biometric Product Testing Final Report (19 March 2001, Center for
Mathematics and Scientific Computing, National Physics Laboratory, U.K.).
• Ability to handle very large populations at high speed: Iris databases can handle very large
searches within extremely large databases.
• Convenient: all a person needs to do is look into a camera for a few seconds. A video image is
taken which is non-invasive and inherently safe.
• The iris itself is stable throughout a person’s life (approximately from the age of one); the
physical characteristics of the iris don't change with age.
• Total Cost of Ownership: iris recognition carries extremely low maintenance costs and offers
seamless interoperability between different hardware vendors; the technology also has the ability
to work well with other applications.
• Lighting, age, glasses, and head/face coverings all impact false reject rates.
• Even in surveillance applications, lower accuracy results in multiple candidate returns in large
populations. As a result, secondary processing is required for surveillance operations.
• Privacy concerns: people do not always know when their picture/image is being taken and being
searched in a database — or worse, being enrolled in a database. Can be used without explicit opt-
in permission.

• Weather, temperature and medical conditions such as pregnancy or certain medications can
affect hand size.
• Hand size and geometry changes over time, especially in the very young and the very old.
• People are reluctant to place hand where many others have touched (hygiene issue).
• Hands-free operation.
