1 PURPOSE
The purpose of this standard is to define the OWNER’s numbering system to be
used for Project drawings and documents.
2 SCOPE
This procedure shall be applied to all project documentation and drawings i.e.
Drawings, Calculations, Line Lists, Equipment Lists, Process Specifications, Data
sheets, Philosophy Documents, Noise Reports, Organisation Charts Planning
Documents, Procedures, Progress reports. etc. with the exception of items listed
below: -
3 DEFINITIONS
The Document Number shall be the number as defined in paragraph 5.2
excluding sheet references and revisions.
4 RESPONSIBILITIES
The allocation, monitoring and control of OWNER’s Project document and
drawing numbers on a project shall be the responsibility of the CONTRACTOR.
The CONTRACTOR shall be able to produce Document and Drawing Indexes in
order showing OWNER’s number format to demonstrate the application of this
standard.
5 PROCEDURE
5.1 General
If the CONTRACTOR uses his own system in addition to those specified in this
procedure, then the CONTRACTOR numbers shall be located in two subsidiary
spaces allocated on the drawing or document title block. The OWNER’s
document numbers prescribed in this standard shall be used as the primary
document number and all cross referencing within PROJECT documents
(including vendor documents) shall use OWNER document numbers.
CONTRACTOR’s Document Management System shall be capable of sorting on
the component fields of the OWNER document number and producing indexes
and reports accordingly.
Project document and drawing numbers shall not be duplicated under any
circumstance.
Once numbers are allocated to specific Project documents or Drawings they shall
not be reused.
Sketch numbers SHALL NOT be used for any formally issued project documents
and drawings.
AAAAA-BBB-CC-DDEFF
Where
In the event that more than 99 drawings of a particular type may be produced for
one unit a three digit sequence shall be used. This shall be identified at the time
the CONTRACTOR’s Document Index is being prepared and shall be discussed
with, and be subject to agreement by, OWNER.
5.2.7 Different document or drawing types within the same discipline code may be
allocated the same Unit Train Sequential number. The Unit Train Sequence
number must be applied in a fashion that enables a sequence of similar drawings
applicable to the same Unit and Train to appear together in a numerically ordered
Drawing/Document index.
5.2.8 Sheet Numbers
The use of sheet numbers shall be kept to a minimum.
Where the use of sheet numbers cannot be avoided they shall take the form of a
three digit number and shall be depicted as Sht XXX of YYY or as shown below
for Instrument Loop Diagram Numbers, and be shown on the Document/Drawing
local to the Document/Drawing No.
Where sheet numbers are used on drawings each sheet shall show the full
drawing number as well as the sheet number.
The first sheet number of a multi - sheet drawing (with the exception of piping
isometric detail drawings) shall be 001 and shall always be an index. This index
shall list all sheet numbers and the revision history for each sheet.
Instrument Loop Diagrams shall be listed on an Index that may be more than one
sheet. This index shall be numbered as Sheets 001, 002 etc. The index shall list
all loops by loop identifier and the number of sheets and the revision of each
sheet associated with loop.
A, B, C for all revisions for review or checking prior to AFC (Approved for
Construction) for drawings or Approved for Design for Documents
01 will be the first issue of documents Approved for Design or drawings AFC.
AAAAA-BB-CC-DDEFF-GG
Where:
When more than one Isometric Drawing is required to depict a line then these
shall be covered as above with the addition of sheet numbers in the format SHT
XXX of YYY. When Isometric detail drawings are reissued they must be complete
with all sheets.
5.3.2 Revision codes for Isometrics shall be as paragraph 5.2.6 above.
5.3.3 Bills of Materials shall appear on the first sheet of a multi-sheet piping isometric
drawing only.
5.4 Instrument Loop Diagrams
On larger projects where there may be a significant number of Instrument Loop
Diagrams, consideration may be given to introducing a four digit sheet number as
follows.:-
AAAAA-BBB-CC-DDEFF-GGG(G)
Where:
The Unit Train Sequence Number will be made up of the Unit Number, the Train
number and a numerical sequence number. The numerical sequence number will
represent the type of loops to be covered on that drawing. For example all Flow
Loops for unit 60 will be on Drawing sequence number 60001, all Level on 60002,
all Pressure on 60003, all temperature on 60004, all Miscellaneous on 60005, all
Analysers on 60006, all Burners on 60007 and all Speed on 60008.etc. The same
numerical sequence numbers will be used on each unit for the same types of
loop.
The index sheet of each drawing will list the loops in numerical order.
This system will enable the loop drawing for any particular instrument to be
identified by the Operator and located in the shortest possible time.
During the FEED and EPC phases of the Project every technical document or
drawing that is to be issued to a third party e.g Supplier, Licensor, EPC
Contractor, Sub-Contractor etc. or is likely to become, or be a forerunner to a
document that would become part of the Permanent Technical Record (Project
Data Book) shall use these formats or their equivalent.
OR
OWNER LOGO
The format of the above Title Block can change depending on the Contracting
Strategy and the Project Phase etc.
