Music Video Treatment

1. Music Video Synopsis and Reasoning

I have chosen to do Sharon Van Etten’s song ‘Seventeen’ as the song and its lyrics capture the true
essence of becoming a teenager, that everyone has to experience at some point in their lives. Even
though this song is tailored and made in the mind of the younger Van Etten, it can also be generalized as
she doesn’t talk about anything that happened to her specifically, she kept it as relatable as possible to
her audience and to anyone who’s experienced what it’s like to grow up, physically and mentally as well
as the positives and the negatives that come along with it.

The approach that I want to take in this music video, is to follow the everyday life of a highschool girl,
walking and living through her everyday experience, talking and interacting with her friends as well as her
teachers in her classrooms and her break room in the school.

2. Director’s statement
Working on this music video has truly been an eye opener as to what the average highschool girl goes
through everyday, as I had many thoughts and gathered some primary data from some highschool girls
that I personally know as to what their experiences are like and shoot ideas at them as to how I can
portray that in the music video.

3. Status of the Music Video

As of writing this treatment, the production and the filming of it has been completed, now moving onto the
stage of post-production. Color correction, editing, stitching the different shots together and creating those
smooth transitions that make it easy to follow the narrative of the music video.

4. Director/Producer
The producer has worked on countless other music videos that have reached amongst the top 50 of
music videos on YouTube, with reports from the artists about boosting up the song’s streaming numbers
on Spotify, Itunes and Samsung music by a factor of 10%, thus increasing their overall income and
exposing their music and introducing their music to new and old fans alike.

5. Camera/ Equipment
The team has focused on using the 4K recording camera as well as a Samsung A7, for any still shots that
are included in the music video as part of the small

6. Sound and Lighting

The initial sound and lighting would be taken care of by Sean Keaton, whose expertise has earned him 2
international oscars one of the Oscars for ‘Best film lighting’ and ‘Best film soundtrack’, proving that he’s
really an expert in his field and in balancing as well as mixing in the different audio and recreating sounds
by Foley, Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to films, videos, and other
media in post-production to enhance audio quality for the viewers pleasure as well as making the
surroundings sound more authentic and realistic.

7. Video editing/SFX
I have chosen to hire 2 main editors. One editor that’s in charge of any of the lighting changes, colors as
well as transitions, and the 2nd one that’s in charge of the syncing of the songs to the scene, designing
the graphics for the music video, photo editing in order to include the said photos in the music video and
the still shots and etc.
