Pre-Assessment:

The pre-assessment for this unit was a worksheet with objects on it. The students had to
circle only the living things on the worksheet. Before the students took the pre-assessment, the
teacher went over vocabulary words that the students would need to know before the pre-
assessment. The teacher also modeled to the students what they needed to do. Only 40% of the
students were able to circle the correct pictures of living things.

Assessments:
Lesson One Formative:
An exit slip will be used as the formative assessment. The students will have to color in
all of the living things on the paper to show that they know which pictures are living things and
which ones are not. After the student’s color in the pictures, the teacher will use a checklist by
checking yes or no if the students colored in the right pictures or not.

Lesson Two Formative:

A word sort will be used on Google Classroom as a formative assessment in the second
lesson plan for science. Before the students put the words into the categories the teacher will
explain to them which words would go into the human category and which should go into the
plant’s category. When the students are finished with the assessment, they will turn it in on
Google Classroom. The teacher will be taking anecdotal notes while the students are
participating in the word sort.

Lesson Two Summative:

For the summative assessment, the students will write down or verbally say 3
things a plant needs OR 3 things a human needs. Before the students take the summative
assessment, the teacher will review the characteristics and traits of each. The teacher will
use a rubric to grade the students' work.
