Minimization of HVAC energy Consumption to enhance comfort through EMP, BIM, BAS &

HVAC control strategies: Building energy modeling

Research Background: The buildings can be credited 73 percent of electricity and 40 percent of
greenhouse gas emissions. The overall energy consumption of buildings among all industries is
39 percent, costing $350 billion a year. Approximately one third of building energy use comes
from heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The only way to increase a
building's energy efficiency is to use good HVAC control. The most important thing to expect is
the effect of change in the control strategy. HVAC systems can be controlled efficiently through
building automation system by controlling & optimizing HVAC systems operation with existing
equipment under the time-of-use (TOU) policy by changing control setting with advanced
control strategies by reducing the demand in peak hour. Economic Model Predictive Control
(EMPC) is one of the most appropriate solutions which operate on a complex dynamic model of
construction. Without EMPC some strategies also come in handy in the terms of comtrol
