Arturo Cavero Velasquez

He was a Peruvian singer of Creole music. For a long time he


executed the drawer. Born in Lima, Peru, on November 29, 1940, he
was born in Callejón known as the White Flag of central Lima. He was
the son of Don Juan Cavero, born in Huaral, and Ms Digna Velasquez,
a natural of San Luis de Cañete. He learned his first songs from his
mother, as was the case with Pedro Miguel Arrese's waltz "Alma mía".
His name "Zambo" was awarded by the show journalist Guido
Monteverde, in 1970 he joined with guitarist Oscar Avilés, some of the
best songs of this duo were composed by Augusto Polo Campos. Such
is the case of the waltzes "Cada domingo a las doce, después de la
misa", the first to compos for them "Y se llama Perú " and "Contigo
Peru". On June 3, 1987, together with Luis Abanto Morales, Jesús
Vásquez, Oscar Avilés and Augusto Polo Campos, he was awarded in
Washington D.C., by the Organization of American States, a society
that honored his aid to the music of the Americas, in 1996 he
participated in the film Under the Skin of Francisco Lombardi,
performing the song "Rebeca" and in 2001, appeared in an advertising
spot in support of aprista candidate Alan Garcia. In it the two sang duet
"Y se llama Peru", his obesity prevented him from continuing to sing,
generating a disease called sepsis, this is a medical emergency that
can be fatal without a quick treatment, for this reason he died on
October 9, 2009, at the Edgardo Rebagliati Martins Hospital, Lince.
