one to cultivate the non-harming attitude towards oneself and others.

It would compel
one to be selfless, kind, thoughtful and respectful towards others through the restrain
of one’s behavior. Using meditation as a practical tool, one can arrest all the
distractions caused by the five senses. With the clarity of mind there is a lessening of
fretfulness, resentment, possessiveness and delusion - i.e. of all mental defilements.
The Buddha’s teaching traces suffering to its source which is none other than
one’s mind, linking first to one’s craving and clinging and then to ignorance of the
true nature of things. As the mind is the source of suffering the cure too needs to be
achieved in one’s mind, by dispelling defilements and delusions. The purification of
mind is essential to transform an unenlightened mind, which is in the clutches of
affliction, to an enlightened mind that is peaceful and free. When one does an action,

one transforms the seeds in one’s store consciousness. Contemplating more on
temporariness, no-self of all dharmas can help diminish the delusion in manas, help
see the true nature of our inner being, and thus pave the path to emancipation.
In today’s world where undue importance is given to a materialistic outlook,
moving towards emancipation is all the more difficult. More understanding of the
Buddhist philosophy of no-self, karmic seeds and its relation to store consciousness
needs to be developed for the use on the Buddha path.
Needless to say, Vasubandhu’s works is an in-depth study for understanding
nature of reality and mind, the vehicle to attaining emancipation. Understanding
Vasubandhu’s doctrine of mind interspersed with his concept of nonduality, no-self
and store consciousness and Yogācāra philosophy of mind in their entirety is essential
to a Buddhist life and calls for a serious thought. This can go at length to help realize
