Heracles and the Lion

1. Heracles was a great hero. He came from a city called Thebes. Thebes is in Greece.
2. Heracles’ cousin was the King of Greece. He disliked Heracles and wanted to punish
him, but he didn’t know how.
3. The goddess Hera also disliked Heracles. She told the King to give Heracles ten
hard labors.
4. The King called Heracles to his palace to give him his first labor. Heracles was to
slay the Nemean Lion.
