Dear Parent/Teacher,

I have always emphasized to my Sunday School

students, whether preschool or 5th grade, that
the Bible is a History book. We may call them
"Bible stories", but they are real life accounts of
the journey from the days of creation to
Revelations.

Take preschoolers through the Bible while

learning HIS-story, as well as the alphabet.
Along the way kids will be able to hear stories,
make crafts & interesting snacks, as well as
lots of other hands-on fun!

Some pages are to be printed one for each

student. These pages will be marked with with a
printer symbol in the bottom left corner.

HIS-Story Time! A Beautiful Garden for
Listen & Learn
Adam & Eve
Close your eyes and magine the most beautiful place you can think of! Does it
have green grass and lots of flowers? Are there tall trees that give you shade?
Can you see the bright blue sky and big yellow sun? Is there is a pond to play in
with happy frogs and lily pads? Wouldn't you like to bring your friends with you?

God made such a place for Adam & Eve! It was called the Garden of Eden. God
told them they could eat anything they wanted in the garden. But
they could not eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil. God
would walk with Adam & Eve in the garden. They were so happy!

One day Eve was walking in the garden. She came across
a serpent. The serpent convinced Eve that she should take fruit from the
Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil, so she could be as smart as God. Eve
then convinced Adam that the fruit was good and he should try it. He did! As
soon as they both ate the fruit they became ashamed and hid from God in the
bushes.

God called to Adam, "Where are you?" Adam said that he and Eve were
ashamed and hid, so God could not see them. When God questioned
him further, Adam blamed Eve for making him eat the fruit. Eve blamed the
serpent for tricking her into eating the fruit. God punished all of them. He told the
serpent he would have to crawl on his belly forever. Adam and Eve were sent far
away from the Garden of Eden. And, there would be no more walks with God.

God closed the Garden of Eden and the way to the Tree of Life.
He placed angels and flashing swords at its entrance, so no one
could return there. Adam had to work hard to provide food for his
family. Most important...SIN had now entered the world and the
perfect way of life had ended!

HIS-Story Time! Birth of Jesus
Listen & Learn
The Nativity is Real

Have you ever prepared for something that you were totally excited about?
Maybe a birthday party or vacation. Better yet...have you ever been surprised by
someone you love. Maybe you got a new toy from a grandparent or taken out for
some ice cream by your parents on the spur of the moment. Well, we were given
a gift by someone who loves us very much..God. He gave us the gift of Jesus.

Mary and Joseph had to make a long trip to Bethlehem for a census.
Mary was very far along in pregnancy. This made the trip very hard for
the couple. While in Bethlehem, Mary was ready to give birth. The couple
looked for a place to have the baby, but everywhere they went there was
no room for them. One kind innkeeper let Mary and Joseph stay in a stable
behind his hotel.

Mary gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! They named him Jesus,
as God commanded to Joseph earlier in a dream. It wasn't a0 place
you would imagine the King of Kings to be born, but it was God's plan
all the time.

As soon as this blessed thing happened, angels told shepherds about

Jesus' birth and they immediately went to see him. They found Jesus
lying in a manger with animals all around. The shepherds knelt down
to worship Jesus because they knew He was the Savior they had been
waiting for.

Isn't that a wonderful gift? God loves us so much that He sent Jesus to be our
Savior! Let's say a prayer to thank God for sending us Jesus.

Everything
Have you ever felt something very powerful, like a big wind? Do you want to be a
police officer or a fire fighter one day because you see how strong these people
are? What do you think of when you hear the word "powerful"? Maybe you think
of Batman or the Hulk! God is the most powerful person you will ever know. He
simply spoke words and in 6 days the entire universe was created.

On Day 1 God created light and dark. He said "Let there be light" and it
happened. He called the light "day" and the dark "night." God said this
was very good.

On Day 2 God created the sky. Again he was happy with his work
and said it was very good.

On Day 3 God created land and all kinds of plants. He said, "Let dry
ground appear.” It came into being immediately. God was happy.

On Day 4 God placed the sun, moon, and stars in the sky. Now there
would be light in the sky both day and night. God named all of the
stars. God said this was very good.

On Day 5 God created all of the creatures in the sea and the birds of
the air. Seeing living creatures on Earth made God very happy again.

On Day 6 God created all the land animals and man. He made man in
His own image. God said, " “Let us make human beings so that they
are like us." The word "us" means Jesus was with God during Creation.

The next day God rested! Wouldn't you?

Doesn't it make you feel happy when you do something good for someone
else. Have you ever made your mother and father a handmade card. Weren't
they so happy to receive it? When I make someone else happy, I want to do it
over and over again. This is what our Bible lesson is about today. Let's learn
more.

In Joppa there was a believer named Tabitha. Her name in the

Greek language is Dorcas. She was always doing good and
helping poor people. About that time she became sick and died.
Her body was washed and placed in a room upstairs. Lydda was
near Joppa. The believers heard that Peter was in Lydda. So
they sent two men to him. They begged him, “Please come at
once!”

Peter went with them. When he arrived, he was taken upstairs to

the room. All the widows stood around him crying. They showed
him the robes and other clothes Dorcas had made before she died.

Peter sent them all out of the room. Then he got down on his
knees and prayed. He turned toward the dead woman. He said,
“Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes. When she saw Peter,
she sat up. He took her by the hand and helped her to her feet.
Then he called the believers and especially the widows. He
brought her to them. They saw that she was alive. This became
known all over Joppa. Many people believed in the Lord. Peter
stayed in Joppa for some time. He stayed with Simon, a man whoo
worked with leather.

HIS-Story Time! Elijah's Victory on
Listen & Learn Mount Carmel
Has anyone ever told you that you can't do something? Perhaps a friend said
you couldn't jump on one foot for 10 seconds. Try it right now! A named Elijah
had a similar test. Could he do all the things he said he could? Let's find out!

Elijah was a prophet. That means he spoke God's words to the people,
so they would know that God was near. Some people in Elijah's town
believed in a god called Baal instead of the true God. Baal's prophets
challenged Elijah to prove that Baal was a god as powerful as the true God. Of
course, Elijah accepted this challenge with excitement and assurance. This was
all because a long drought had come to the land and Baal's prophets said that
Baal could make it rain. Elijah knew God could actually make it rain!

First, a bull was given to Elijah and one to the prophets of Baal. Elijah
instructed the Baal prophets to put their bull on an altar, "but put no
fire under it." The prophets of Baal called to their god to light a fire
under the altar. Nothing happened.

Elijah gathered the people who were watching the event around
him. He built his small altar and placed his bull on it. He next
dug out a ditch around the altar. This was strange, but things got
even more strange. Elijah called for 12 barrels of water to be poured on his altar,
which overflowed into the ditch he had made. This was mind boggling. How
would this work?

Elijah stood up and prayed to God. He asked God to perform a miracle

so people would know that he is the One True God. God sent down a
fire that burned up Elijah's sacrifice, as well as all the water in the ditch.

Next came a very heavy rain. The people were so happy because a long drought
had just ended! http://www.grandmateachesme.com

HIS-Story Time! Fruit of the Spirit

Listen & Learn
Fruit is good for you. All fruit has vitamins that you need to stay healthy. What is your favorite fruit? It's
okay to have more than one favorite since many fruits are so delicious! There are 9 other kinds of fruit
mentioned in the Bible that is good for our soul. It's called the Fruit of the Spirit. These fruits are how we
should live our life and treat other people. The Holy Spirit helps us use these fruits.

The first fruit mentioned in the Bible is LOVE. Think of the people you love the most. Why do
you love them? Do you always get along with these people? Probably not, but you love them
anyway. God loves you even more than anyone on earth. We all make mistakes, but God always
loves us no matter what. He created you because He loves you!

The next fruit is JOY. Joy is often used like the word happy. But joy is more than being happy. It
is the feeling you have when you know God and believe that He loves you. Happiness can come
and go, but joy stays with you always.

Than there is PEACE. This peace comes from knowing God and knowing that He can make you feel calm
and confident. It is also knowing that God forgives sin when you confess your sins to Him. How can you
know God better?

PATIENCE is difficult. It means being able to wait for something to happen, like going to the park
to play. It also means being able to wait for God's answer to your prayer.

The next fruit is KINDNESS. Of course, you already know that being kind to others is the right thing to do.
You should also be kind to animals and all the things that God created.

GOODNESS is a fruit that reminds you to turn away from sin. If you get mad and break a toy, you
need to tell your parents what you did and try your best to not do this again. Turn from the bad and be
good. Is this going to be easy? Not all the time, but God will always forgive you if you ask for forgiveness.

The fruit FAITHFULNESS means acting in a way that others can trust you. Don't say you are going to let
your friend borrow a book, if you know you are not going to let them have it. Be honest. Faithfulness also
means praying to God regularly. Praying to God shows Him that you love Him and believe what the Bible
says.

Than there is GENTLENESS. If your mom is upset because she lost her job, what would you do?
You might laugh at her and run away. The better thing to do is give her a hug. Tell her you love her
no matter what! That is being gentle. Talk to people in a nice way. Do your best to make others feel good.

SELF-CONTROL can be hard for anyone. When you feel yourself about to do something you know
you shouldn't, just stop. Tell yourself "no!" You have a super power to say what you want. Use that
power to make someone feel good. You could hit your brother when he keeps picking on you, but you
know that isn't right. Tell your parents about the situation and let them handle it. Have self-control.

Samaritan
If someone needed your help, would you help? Suppose a new kid comes to
your school and other kids make fun of him. Would you say something nice?
Would you ask him to sit with you? Jesus says that everyone in the world is our
neighbor and we should be kind to everyone, especially those that need our
help.

One day a law man who did not like Jesus wanted to test him. He asked Jesus
what he needed to do to be saved. Jesus told this man that he must. "Love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your
strength and with all your mind. And, Love your neighbor as you love yourself."
The law man then asked Jesus who was his neighbor? Jesus answered with
this short story:

A man was traveling along a road when he was attacked by robbers.

They took his clothes and hurt him badly. They left him on the road. A
priest walked by and when he saw the man, he crossed the street and
ignored him. A Levite also saw the man, crossed the street and
ignored him.

Next a Samaritan came along. When he saw the man, he felt sorry for
him. He cleaned his wounds and put bandages on him. The Samaritan
put the man on his donkey and took him to an inn, which is like a hotel
we would stay in today. He also paid the innkeeper to take care of the hurt
man. The Samaritan told the innkeeper that he would be back and pay him for
any extra money he needs for taking care of the man.

Jesus asked the law man which of the three men was a neighbor to the hurt
man. The law man said it was the one who took care of him. Jesus told him,
“Go and do as he did.”

HIS-Story Time!
Listen & Learn Heaven and Angels
Think of the most beautiful neighborhood you can imagine. What do the
houses look like? What kind of neighbors do you have? Now think of a
place where angels are flying around. Your neighbors are happy and
smiling all the time. The houses are huge and beautiful. Sounds nice,
doesn't it? What else would you like in your best place ever?

As wonderful as your imagination, Heaven will be even

more spectacular! The Bible says, "Then the angel
showed me the river of the water of life. It was as clear as
crystal." (Revelation) Crystal is a very expensive and
precious stone. There are many gems in Heaven.
Houses are like mansions. There will be no nighttime in Heaven. The
Bible also tells us that there will be no tears or pain in Heaven. No one is
sick and everyone worships God.

Humans live on earth. Angels live in Heaven. Angels are very

powerful and much stronger than humans. They were created
individually like humans and given specific names by God
himself. (Job 1:6) Angels existed long before God created the earth
and were there during Creation. (Job 38) Angels always praise God.
They work of God and carry out his commands. The Bible tells that there
are hundreds of millions of angels. (Revelation 5:11) There are more
angels in Heaven than people on earth.

To get to Heaven, you must love Jesus and accept him

as God's own son. God loves you so much that he wants
only the best for you. You are God's greatest gem!

Listen & Learn Isaiah the
Prophet
How would you like to know what will happen in the future? Would you only
want to hear the good news? If you could tell what will happen in the future,
who would you share your prediction with? God used many people to spread
His word over many years.

Isaiah was a prophet of God. A prophet is a person who

gives a message from God to a group of people. Isaiah gave
these messages to all nations. The messages Isaiah told to
people are called prophecy, which means a prediction of
something to happen in the future. The purpose of a prophecy
was to prepare people for God's Will. Sometimes God wanted to give
people a chance to turn from what they were doing wrong. Other times God
wanted to tell of good news that was coming in the future.

Isaiah's most famous prophecy was telling of the birth of Jesus. He gave this
message to the people about 700 years before Jesus was to be born:

"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government

will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Isaiah
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." 9:6

Isaiah has his own Book in the Bible. His name means "Lord is Salvation."
He was considered a major prophet because God chose to reveal more
prophecies to him than some of the other prophets in the Bible.

Joshua's
Big Battle
Have you ever dreamed of being a soldier or a warrior? You rush in and save lots
of people from a mean king. They cheer and say you are Number One! What do
you think it would be like to be in God's Army? Let's learn about one man who led
the biggest battle of his time...

Joshua was the leader of the Israelites. He was suppose to lead them
into the land the Lord had promised, which was called Jericho. There
was one problem...the people of Jericho weren't about to give up their
land. Jericho was protected by strong walls and the only way into the
land was through the city gates. These gates were being guarded by
soldiers. Did Joshua give up and turn away? No!

The Lord came to Joshua and gave him very detailed instructions on how to get
into the city and take it over. Now these instructions sounded a bit silly to the
Israelites, but Joshua convinced them that this is what they needed to do.

First, the Israelites had to carry the Ark of the Covenant and march
once around the walls of Jericho each day for six days. Now
the Israelites thought this was strange, but obeyed what God had
commanded. Surely the people of Jericho must have thought the Israelites were
no threat to them. In fact, they probably laughed to see such an elaborate show
every day.

On the seventh day, God told the Israelites to march

around Jericho seven times in one day! On the last time
around trumpets would blow and everyone was to shout as loud as they could.
Guess what happened? The walls of Jericho crumbled and fell apart. Because of
Joshua's faith in God, the Israelites won the battle and entered their new home!

King David

Memory Verse:
Man looks at the outward appearance,

I Samuel 16:7

http://www.grandmateachesme.com
HIS-Story Time!
Listen & Learn King David
The people of Israel wanted a king to rule over them. They said other
nations had kings and forgot that God was their king. The first king God
chose for Israel did not work out so well. God decided it was time to
choose a new king for Israel.

God sent his prophet Samuel to Bethlehem to anoint a new king. This king was
to come from the house of Jesse. Samuel asked Jesse to bring his sons to him
one-by-one. God would let Samuel know when the next king was in his sight.

So, as each son passed by God rejected them. Finally, after seven strong and
handsome brothers had been rejected by God, Samuel asked Jesse if he had
any other sons. Jesse said he had one more son, David. David was just a young
boy. Surely, this could not be the chosen one, but Samuel asked Jesse to bring
David in from the fields where he was watching sheep. God said to Samuel,
"Don't consider his looks. I have rejected him. Man looks at outward
appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." When David enter the room where
Samuel was waiting, God said: "He is the one," God said. "He will be the next
king of Israel. Rise and anoint him with oil."

David went on to be the greatest "human" king Israel ever had. He loved
God with all of his heart and God even called David a man after his own
heart: "'David, son of Jesse, is a man dear to my heart,’ he said. ‘David
will do everything I want him to do.’" Acts 13:22

You see, God doesn't look at how big you are or how popular you are. He knows
what is in your heart all the time. If you are kind, seek wisdom, and love God
with all your heart, you can do anything you set your mind to. After all, when
God looked at David, He didn't see a shepherd; He saw a king.

Is there someone you love so much that you would do anything for them?
Maybe a friend needs a toy car to finish his collection and you have it. Would
you give it to him? Or your dad isn't feeling well, but needs to fold the laundry.
Would you offer to fold it for him? Jesus had a friend that he loved so much that
he performed a great miracle to help him.

There were two sisters who had a very sick brother named
Lazarus. Lazarus was a dear friend of Jesus'. The sisters sent
a note for Jesus: “Lord,” they told him, “the one you love is sick.”
Lazarus died soon after the message was sent.

Jesus traveled to see Lazarus and wake him up from his "sleep." He
said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory.
God’s Son will receive glory because of it.” When he arrived the sisters
told Jesus that Lazarus had been dead for 4 days. Jesus ordered the
stone in front of Lazarus' tomb to be rolled away. Jesus said,
"Lazarus come out!" A man walked out of the tomb. He was
wrapped in linens and cloth. Jesus told the sisters to take off these
burial clothes and let Lazarus walk away.

When news spread about this miracle many people believed in Jesus
and were saved. Sometimes people need to see something before their very
eyes in order to believe in something. We don't need to see miracles to know
that Jesus can save. We have the Bible and God's very words that tell us Jesus
is who we can trust always!

Have you ever wanted something to go your way and felt upset when it didn't turn out
the way you wanted? You were looking forward to meeting your best friend on the
playground after school, but she never showed up! Bummer. You come to find out
her little sister was just born, and so your disappointment turns into happiness. God
works the same way sometimes. If something doesn't happen the way you want it,
remember that God may have something even better in store for you!

One day a man and woman had a son. At this time in history all
baby boys were to be drown in the Nile River, so they could not
grow up stronger than the boys in Egypt. This woman could see
that her baby was a fine child. She hid him from the Egyptians and finally had to put
him in a basket in the tall grass that grew along the bank of the Nile River. The child’s
sister wasn’t very far away. She wanted to see what would happen to him.

The Pharaoh’s daughter, a princess, went down to the Nile River to

take a bath. She noticed the basket and was amazed to see a crying
baby inside. She felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,”
she said.

The baby's sister spoke to the princess. She asked her if she could get one of the
Hebrew women to feed the baby for a few months. The Pharaoh's daughter
agreed. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. Pharaoh’s daughter said to her,
“Take this baby and feed him for me. I’ll pay you.” So the woman took the baby and
fed him.

When the child grew older the baby was given back to the
princess. She named him Moses, which meant "I pulled him
out of the water.”

Noah's Ark
Have you ever made a promise? We all make promises at some time in our lives. A
promise is a verbal contract you make to another person or to God. It is not always easy
to keep promises. If you make a promise when you are scared or anxious you might not
want to keep the promise when you are feeling different. If you make a promise when you
are feeling happy, you may find it hard to keep that promise when you feel different, too.
God makes promises in the Bible. He keeps his promises and we never have to worry
about whether or not He might change his mind. He won't!

God told Noah that he was not happy with people and He was going to flood the
earth and start all over again. God knew that Noah was the only righteous man left
in the world. God said that He would save Noah and his family, as well as two of
every kind of animal from the flood.

Noah began building a huge ark according to what God instructed. Noah's
sons helped him build the ark. People would just laugh at Noah. They
said he was a silly old man. Once finished, God sent the animals to Noah and
he began loading them onboard. Next, Noah and his family boarded the ark and shut the
doors.

It began to rain very hard for 40 days and 40 nights. When the rain stopped Noah sent out
a raven to see if there was dry land. But the bird had no where to land. He then
sent out a dove 3 times. The first time the dove could find no dry land and
returned to Noah. For the second time the dove flew off and came back with an
olive branch. The third time the dove was sent out, he did not come back.
Finally God told Noah that he and his family, along with all the animals, could get off the
ark. It was about 150 days that Noah and his family spent on the ark.

Shortly after coming off the ark, God made a promise (convenant) with Noah.
He said, "Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood;
never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” God placed a rainbown in the sky
as a sign of this promise.

Offering
There are many ways to tell God that you love Him. You read
your Bible to learn what God wants you to know. You go
to church, so you can learn to grow your relationship with
Him. You sing praise, so God can hear your love for Him through
songs. Another way Christians show love for God is to give back
some of the blessings He has given to us. This is called an offering.

Does God need your money? No, He doesn't. But, poor people and
sick people need your money to buy food and medical supplies. So,
when you give your offering (or some of your money) to God, He
can turn around and use that to help other people.

How do you give an offering to God? You give it through

your church. Your church takes up a collection during a
service. After the collection is done, the money is counted up and
divided among the different ways it can be used to help others.

How much should your offering be? It really depends on how much
each person can give. God knows each person personally and
knows when an offering is being given with love. An offering
should always be given with love. The Bible says: "Each
of you should give what you have decided in your heart to
give. You shouldn’t give if you don’t want to. You shouldn’t
give because you are forced to. God loves a cheerful giver." ~ 2

HIS-Story Time!
Listen & Learn Prodigal Son
Have you ever lost something that you really liked? Maybe you lost a stuffed animal
or toy. You couldn't find it anywhere and it made you very sad. Then one day you
found it! You were so happy. You ran around the house telling everyone your favorite
lost stuffed animal was found. That is how the father in this Bible lesson felt. Let's
learn more...

A father had two sons. One was faithful and did everything to please his
father. The other son was not so faithful. In fact, he insisted his father give
him all the money that he would get one day, but it wasn't time to get the
money yet. The father agreed.

This son decided to leave his father's house. He went out on his own and
spent all of his money on parties, jewelry, clothes, and all kinds of other things
he wanted. Before he knew it, the son had spent all of his money. He had NOTHING
left. He had no idea what he would do now.

This unfaithful son thought about going back home, but he was too afraid that his
father would be mad at him and not let him stay. So, the son found a
job taking care of some pigs. He had to eat the same slop that the pigs
ate to survive. He finally decided that it would be better to be punished
by his father then continue to take care of pigs. He headed for home.

When the father saw his son walking towards home, he was so happy.
He called his workers and told them to prepare a big meal for his son. He
also told them to bring out the finest clothes he had to dress him up. The son
hugged his father and said he was sorry for being so foolish. The father forgave him
and told him how happy he was to have him home.

Jesus knows that we make mistakes. He will always welcome us back

to Him when we realize how much we need Him. Jesus is like the
father in this story. His love never ends.

HIS-Story Time!
Listen & Learn Queen Esther

Friends and family are just awesome! We know we can count on them to help
us when we need them. Think of your best friend. If this friend forgot to bring
his lunch to school one day, would you share your lunch with him? I bet you
would. There was an entire nation that needed the help of one young girl. She
loved her people so much that she...well listen up!

Esther was a Jewish girl who had been taken captive. After her parents
died, she was adopted a family member, Mordecai, who raised her as
his own daughter. Mordecai loved Esther very much.

King Xerxes (ZERK seez) was looking for a new queen. Many young
women were considered, but once the king saw Esther, he knew she
was the one he would choose to be the new queen.

Haman was the most powerful man in the kingdom besides the king. He
was an evil man who hated the Jewish people. He wanted to have them
killed. In order to do this, he tricked the king into signing a law that called
for all Jewish people to die.

Mordecai persuaded Esther to go to the king and plead for the lives of the
Jewish people. She could be killed for going before him when she
hadn't been called. But she was brave and went to see the king. She
invited him and the evil man, Haman, to a banquet. During the meal,
she revealed the plot against the Jews and accused Haman. Haman
was hanged on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai, and the Jews
were allowed to defend themselves. Mordecai was honored.

Sometimes it is hard to be brave. Ask God for courage and you will find helping
others makes you feel very good inside. God will bless you!

Naomi lived in Moab with her husband, two sons, and their
wives. One day Naomi's husband died. Soon after her two
sons died, too. This left Naomi and her daughter-in-law's alone.

Naomi decided to go back to Bethlehem, her home town.

One of the daughter-in-laws, Orpah, kissed Naomi
goodbye and left for her home town. The other
daughter-in-law, Ruth, insisted on following Naomi to
Bethlehem. Ruth said: "Where you go I’ll go. Where
you stay I’ll stay. Your people will be my people. Your God will be my
God."

Ruth and Naomi needed food. Ruth asked to be allowed to

pick up fallen barley in a field. The field belonged to a
relative of Naomi. His name was Boaz and he was a very
important person in Bethlehem. Boaz told his workers: "Let her take
some stalks from what the women have tied up. Don’t tell her she
can’t. Even pull out some stalks for her. Leave them for her to pick
up. Don’t tell her she shouldn’t do it.”

Soon Boaz and Ruth fell in love and got married. Once
they were married they still took care of Naomi.

Ruth was a good friend to Naomi. God blessed Ruth for

Can We Talk?
Tower of Babel
Now the whole world had one language and a common
speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in
Shinar and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them
thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.
Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower
that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for
ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole
earth.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the
people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people
speaking the same language they have begun to do this,
then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.
Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not
understand each other.”

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and
they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel
— because there the Lord confused the language of the
whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face
of the whole earth.

HIS-Story Time! Uzziah - Pride
Listen & Learn Before a Fall
Have you ever done something that you were very proud of? Sure, we all have!
Maybe you came in 1st Place during a race and got a ribbon. It is wonderful to
have such an accomplishment. But, if you brag about your ribbon and make
others feel like they are not as good as you, then you become full of pride. This is
not a good thing. We all have ups and downs during life, so staying humble is the
right attitude to have.

Uzziah became king of Judah when he was 16 years old. Uzziah was
taught at an early age how important it was to respect God and obey
his commands. As long as King Uzziah did respect God, he was
given much success. God would help Uzziah in battles against his
enemies. In fact, God helped Uzziah so much that he became very
famous across a great many lands.

Uzziah built towers that were strong and undestructable. He invented

machines that would protect these large towers from an enemy attack.
He had ditches dug for his livestock and had big beautiful gardens and
vineyards. As you can see, Uzziah was very successful. UNTIL...

He became so powerful that he forgot God's rules. He went into the

temple to burn incense that was only to be burned by the priests. The
priests told Uzziah he had to leave the temple. The king became angry
and started shouting at the priests while in the Lord's temple. A disease
suddenly broke out on Uzziah's skin. When the priests saw this they
knew he was being punished by God. They hurred the king out of the temple.
Uzziah had to live in a separate house the rest of his days and he died because
of this skin disease.

God does not want to punish his children. He loves us so much. But like our
earthly father, there are rules we must obey.

Listen & Learn Running the Race
Have you ever watched a race on TV? You see people trying their very best to
win a trophy or a blue ribbon. It can be very exciting as the race winds
down to the end. Imagine how exciting it is for the person who wins the
race! They not only get a prize, but they have the satisfation of knowing
they did their very best and it was enough to win.

Paul ran a different kind of race. It's the same race we all run as Christians. The
goal is the same as any other race. Try your very best and keep the
pace and eventually you will win a prize. The prize Paul talks about is
a crown. The good thing about this race is that there can be many, many winners!
Let's learn more.

It is near the time when Paul will die. He wants to encourage fellow Christians
that there is reward waiting in Heaven for believers. He says: "I have
fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.
Now there is a crown waiting for me. It is given to those who are right
with God. The Lord, who judges fairly, will give it to me on the day he returns. He
will not give it only to me. He will also give it to all those who are longing for him to
return." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

God wants you to be a champion. He wants you to know that He is on your

side and as long as you love Him and do your best to follow His
commands, He will have a crown waiting for you someday. How will you
know how to follow God's commands and make good decisions? By reading your
Bible and praying.

Jesus already gave us the Victory, but we must continue to run the race and take
our friends and family with us to the finish line. Do you want a Victory like Paul?
Never give up on living a good life, believe Jesus is the Son of God, and read
your Bible so you know how to run a good race.

Woman at the Well

Have you ever been so thirsty that you couldn't wait to get a drink? Maybe you
were out playing with your friends in the sun for a while and had to run into
your house for a drink. It's a pretty common thing to do. One day a woman met
Jesus at a well and she learned of a different kind of water. Let's learn more...

Jesus had been traveling and was going through a town called
Samaria. He got tired so sat down at a well for a little break. A
woman from Samaria came up to the well to draw water in her
container. Jesus asked this woman for a drink. She told Jesus that
Jewish people don't talk to Samaritans so she was confused why he
would be talking to her. The Jewish people did not like Samarians because
they were not of pure Jewish descent.

Jesus explained that if the woman knew who he was, she would be
asking him for living water. This kind of water gives eternal life with God.
The woman still did not understand that Jesus was the Messiah (Christ).
She mistaked Jesus for merely a prophet. She did, however, ask Jesus
where she could get this living water, still thinking it was actual water and not a
gift from a God.

Jesus told the woman that she was speaking to the Messiah. She ran to tell
the others in her town that she met the Messiah. She told them
that this man knew things about her that no one else could
know. The people came to see Jesus because they believed
what the woman had told them. After Jesus spoke with the
people and teached them, many believed in Jesus and were saved at this time.

HIS-Story Time! eXodus - Exiting Egypt
Listen & Learn with 10 Plagues
Moses was given a job to do by God. It was a very hard job, but very important. Moses needed to help the
Israelites leave Egypt and enter a promised land that God had prepared for them. Sounds easy enough,
right? Just get up and start walking. It was anything but easy! The thing to keep in mind for us today is that
God will never ask you to do more than you are capable of. That is still true today.

It took 10 plagues for Moses to get the Pharaoh to let the Israelites leave Egypt. eXodus means "exit." Here
is the order that the plagues were given.

1. Water turned to blood. (Exodus 7:14-25). God made it impossible for the Egyptians to have any drinkable
water. That didn't work.

2. Frogs (Exodus 8:1-15). There were frogs in every inch of Egypt and they were even on top of each other.
That didn't work.

3. Lice/Gnats (Exodus 8:16-19). This was the first time the Egyptians had to admit that God was responsible
for the plagues and He means business. But, this didn't work.

4. Flies (Exodus 8:20-32). Flies swept through Egypt. They did not affect the Israelites. This didn't work.

5. Death of Livestock (Exodus 9:1-7). All of the Egyptian cattle died, including horses, sheep, cows, camels
and the like. None of the Israelite cattle died. This didn't work.

6. Boils (Exodus 9:8-12). This is a very painful skin disease that affected every Egyptian. It also came upon
any other animals that were left. This didn't work.

7. Hail (Exodus 9:13-35). Hail mixed with fire came down. The Egyptians could go inside and be spared
death. Anyone outside would be punished. This destroyed the crops. Pharaoh still did not let the Israelites go.

8. Locusts (Exodus 10:1-20). Locusts covered all of Egypt. They ate the rest of the crops and trees. At this
point Pharaoh said the men of Israel could leave, but the women and children had to stay. This didn't work.

9. Darkness (Exodus 10:21-29). Darkness set over Egypt for three days. The Israelites had light in their
homes. Pharaoh said the Israelites could leave, but their cattle had to stay. This didn't work.

10. Death of the Firstborn (Exodus 11:1 to 12:36). This was by far the most serious plague sent by God. On
an appoionted day the firstborn child of every house would be killed. This is the first plague that would affect
the Egyptians and Israelites. In order for the plague to pass over a house, there needed to be blood painted
over the doorway from a sacrificed lamb. The firstborn in these houses would live. This worked. Pharaoh lost
is own firstborn son and finally let the Israelites leave Egypt. http://www.grandmateachesme.com

HIS-Story Time! Young Children
Listen & Learn Come to Jesus

Just because you are small in size does not mean you aren't able to make
great accomplishments. When you do good things for others, you are
being a BIG help. When you do something you love, like draw pictures, and
share what you love with others, you are being a BIG giver. Jesus says that
even adults should be like young children at heart because kids and adults
need to lean on Jesus for strength.

The Bible has a lot to say about how important young children are to
Jesus. Here are a few Bible verses for you:

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The
kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.” ~ Matthew 19:14 - Jesus
knows that we all start out as babies and grow bigger and stronger every
day. As we grow, we need to keep learning more and more about being the
kind of person Jesus wants us to be.

Jesus said, “What I’m about to tell you is true. You need to change and
become like little children. If you don’t, you will never enter the kingdom of
heaven. ~ Matthew 18:3 - Jesus is telling the adults that they must have
trust in God just as young children trust their parents.

Jesus took a little child and had the child stand among them. Then he took
the child in his arms. He said to them, “Anyone who welcomes one of
these little children in my name welcomes me." ~ Mark 9:36-37 - Again
Jesus is telling the adults that children have a pure faith and trust. Adults
must be like little children when putting faith and trust in Jesus.

Remember that Jesus was once a young child, too!

Admitting that you have done something wrong is hard. Perhaps you took a
dollar from your mom's pocketbook without asking. Maybe you broke your
sister's toy and were too afraid to tell her. When you admit you have done
something is the first step to being forgiven. That's what today's story is about.

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man named

Zacchaeus lived there. He was a chief tax collector and was very
rich. Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was. But he was a
short man. He could not see Jesus because of the crowd. So he ran
ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree. He wanted to see Jesus,
who was coming that way.

Jesus reached the spot where Zacchaeus was. He looked up and said,
“Zacchaeus, come down at once. I must stay at your house today.” So
Zacchaeus came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

All the people saw this. They began to whisper among themselves.
They said, “Jesus has gone to be the guest of a sinner. ”

But Zacchaeus stood up. He said, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give
half of what I own to those who are poor. And if I have cheated
anybody out of anything, I will pay it back. I will pay back four times
the amount I took.”

Jesus said to Zacchaeus, “Today salvation has come to your house.
