Ilustrations by David Woodroffe Printed and Bound in Malaysia 2007 2006 a How to use this book There are six workbooks in this series of practice books: Way Ahead Practice Books | and 2 and Way Ahead Grammar Practice Books 3 to 6. They practise and support the grammar and vocabulary taught in Way Ahead. The books can be used for homework or quiet time in the classroom, so they are lorgely self access. In each exercise one example is usually given so that no presentation or explanation is required from the teacher. The material is arranged as 20 units to match the course book. Each unit practises the language taught in the corresponding unit in the Pupil’s Book. The exercises should be done after the material in the Pupil’s Book and the Workbook has been completed. There are two pages of exercises in each unit. There is o fourpage self-test at the end of the book. The practice books are in the style of consolidation exercises. No new material is presented and unknown vocabulary is completely avoided. The types of exercise are similar to those in the Way Ahead Workbooks. They are carefully graded to match the level of the pupils. In Level |, the emphasis is on writing words, matching and colouring. There are no grammatical explanations but the target language is apparent in the exercises. The aim is to reinforce the learning of structures and vocabulary inductively Since the books are intended for self-access, the exercise types and rubrics are similar in style to those in the course books. The grammar progression matches the course books exactly, although the upper levels include both controlled practice and some freer practice. Answer keys are to be found at the back of the Woy Ahead Teachers Books. For answers 10 Way Ahead Practice Book |, See Teachers Book |, ISBN 0333 665015. 1 What's your name? The course is reading-based, with a strong communicative flavour. The structures and functions of English are taught through a variety of inviting, chld-centred activites, which have been carefully graded, and are suitable for dasses in a variety of cultural backgrounds. s The Practice Books provide additional exercises to revise and consolidate the work in the Pupi’s Book and Workbook. They have been specially written so they can be completed by a cild working alone, and so are ideal for homework, or for extra practice during “quiet time’ in the dassroom, ‘Way Ahead Practice Book 1 0-333-14465-9 ‘Way Ahead Practice Book 2 0-333-14466-7 ‘Way Ahead Grammar Practice Book 3 0-333-14467-5 ‘Way Ahead Grammar Practice Book 4 0-333-14468-3 Way Ahead Grammar Practice Book 5 0-333-14469-1 Way Ahead Grammar Practice Book 6 0-333-74470-5 itil 7659 iii MACMILLAN 9 noapic a
