Notebook 11- 2f

My social issue is ‘Teen Dieting’ I know tons of teenagers, friends, peers, and family

members that have struggled with their bodies. Lots of these people like to turn to very very

restrictive and dangerous diets. A lot of the time these diets lead to eating disorders, guilt, and

can actually cause you to gain more weight in the long run.

I have struggled with my self-confidence for years. Even today I feel guilty when I

indulge in unhealthy food. I have tried lots of different diets, exercises, and weird myths that

supposedly would help you lose weight. After trying a variety of techniques to improve my

self-esteem, diets really have done more harm than good. I experience a lot of guilt when I have

a cookie instead of an apple. The only thing that has helped me improve my confidence is

exercising. It has seriously done wonders for my mental health, it’s kinda my escape from the

real world. And I definitely see positive improvements.

I want to research teenagers' experiences with dieting, has it helped or done worse. Lots

of people have struggled far more than I have with their bodies and I would love to hear their

thoughts on my social issue. I want to research ways to stop feeling food guilt, what a healthy

diet is, how social media causes issues, and can diets lead to eating disorders.
