(Science, Technology and Society)

QUESTION:

Identify actual science and technology policies of the government and appraise
their impact on the development of the Filipino nation.

There are Four Clusters of Government Policies in Science and Technology.


These are Social Science, Human, Education, International Policies and Government;
Physics, Engineering and Industrial Research Earth and Space Sciences, and
Mathematics; Medical, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences; Biological Science,
Agriculture, and Forestry. Science and technology policies are one of the public
strategies that elevate fitting financing to progress logical and mechanical examination
and training, contemplates the effect of science and innovation upon its populace, and
endorses guideline, if fundamental.

Extensions in science and technology have denoted since the beginning.


Whenever bridled soundly and viably, these could help annihilate hunger, neediness,
dejection and outrage. The advancement in the fields of biotechnology, data and
correspondence innovation, medication, space science and the board science offers
extraordinary freedom for complex turn of events. The industrialized nations and a
couple of non-industrial nations are energetically catching these remarkable chances by
developing, adjusting and controlling these advances. Nevertheless, the dominant parts
of the non-industrial nations are a long ways behind and are further falling behind
extending the innovation partition.

Under Social Science, Human, Education, International Policies and


Government, the following policies benefited everyone especially the development of
our nation. ASEAN awareness in basic education was integrated. Our heritage was
preserved through emphasizing the teaching of mother tongue in schools. School
infrastructures were built to develop ICT broad bands. Food security was also one of the
main concerns.

Physics, Engineering and Industrial Research Earth and Space Sciences, and
Mathematics includes policies such as giving way to the ratification of R.A. 9184. Doors
for degrees, licenses, and employment were opened. As well as making science and
technology as an independent mover of development for our nation.

In the Medical, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences field, laws supporting


human genomes project were legislated. Creation of food and drug council focused on
standardization of pharmaceutical services and care. Two percent were allocated for
research from the gross domestic product. Moreover, other policies focused on safety
assured by the FDA in cooperation with ASEAN.

Lastly, in the field of Biological Science, Agriculture, and Forestry, biodiversity


and bio safety were the main concerns. The policies involved the protection and
conservation of biodiversity as well as promotion of conserving indigenous people’s
uniqueness. Common food and safety standards were also formulated.

All of these policies became the building blocks of our country to achieving
continuous development and improvement as well as creating strong foundations for the
future generations.
