Black Semiconductor is a high-tech startup

company based in Aachen, Germany. Our
goal is to produce photonics directly on any
electronics - which is a revolution.
Photonics is well known for highest possible data transmission capacity. Black
Semiconductor’s integrated photonics may lead to 1,000x higher performance for data
exchange.

Our unique technology enables a fundamentally new chip architecture for unprecedented
computing power. For example in AI systems, a 10,000-fold increase in performance can
be achieved by using photonic circuits. Black Semiconductor’s technology can be a
cornerstone in applications such as AI, autonomous driving or cloud computing.

We are currently developing the first integrated photonic-electronic chip. The photonics
will be manufactured in a mass production process directly on any electronic circuit. Our
technology is compatible with the machines and technology in the established silicon
foundries, which allows a cost-efficient use of our technology. The integration into the
back-end of chips and the use of the existing production infrastructure is a unique feature
of our graphene photonics.
