Change Management Skills

When a company is evolving in the marketplace it requires changing to achieve growth and to ensure that it
moves forward in the market. The objectives and goals of the organisation can be achieved only by adapting to
the changing situations in the business environment and change is an inevitable part of adapting to the
situations.
2. My change management skills experience in the workplace
Working in the position of marketing assistant for Studio Architekton I has had the opportunity of developing
different management skills. Change management it is very important management process because in the
modern business scenario the market situations are very much turbulent and to meet the changing situations
organisations should adapt to be changes. Depending upon the requirement of the organisation changes have
to be implemented by the manager or the leader who is responsible for implementing the change. The primary
requirement for change is developed due to the vision that is generated by the leader. A clear vision has to be
developed by the leader to initiate a change in the organisation. It is important to understand the requirement for
change and this will help to develop a plan for ensuring successful change. When I was working in the company
as marketing assistant we had a change in the marketing strategy but was required to expand the operations of
the business. I was involved in the process of change management. Digital marketing was considered to be an
important marketing channel that can be utilised for reaching more customers. When we were planning for
developing a digital platform there was many difficulty in convincing the employees about the requirement for a
digital channel of marketing.
The first strategy that we implemented was to develop provision for the digital marketing campaign. I was
responsible for evaluating the situation and providing report on the effect of marketing campaigns through digital
platforms. Hence I help to develop a vision for the digital platform of the company in reaching out to more
customers. I helped to develop funnel with 4 tiers for reaching customers. The initial tier 1, involved reaching the
customers through social media platforms attracting them into a website. The second stage in tier 1 considered
asking the audience questions related to architectural design requirements. When the audience clicks on a
particular enquiry it is considered as an enquiry. Tier 2 consist of pages that give information on the specific
requirement of the customer and this page also so had three questions that was given for understanding the
preference of the customer. Any customer who chooses the question which indicated a requirement for services
from the company was considered to be a marketing lead. The marketing professional was to follow up on this
lead and should engage the customer through father online contacts. The initial contact with the customer will
clarify the basic queries of the customer and the marketing professional managing the digital platform will be
responsible for arranging a meeting between the customer and the marketing professional. Further follow-up
through online will be based on the interest of the customer. Basic information on dealing with the questions and
customer requirements will be mailed to the customers as part of a strategy to engage communication with the
customer for the next 7 weeks. During this time better relationship with customers can be maintained by the
marketing professional and consumers can be reached.
I had developed the basic plan for this digital platform when the covid-19 calamity struck the business activities.
Covid-19 is a rapidly evolving and mass reading epidemic which is causing death as well as morbidity to many
people. Social distancing is claimed to be an effective method to control the spread of the disease. Hence, the
UK government had instructed companies to close down or work from home features. Since my company can
operate through digital platform I was given the option to work from home. It is interesting that even though we
have started our digital marketing platform the sudden changes in the market scenario had impacted direct
marketing methods which may involve people to people interaction. My company management had instructed
me e to develop the digital platform as soon as possible to ensure that the marketing can be digitised and
consumers can be approached through digital platforms. The initial physicians but I have proposed where
accepted by the company and was appreciated for the design of the different tiers in the operation that makes it
simplified. Now it is important for me to convince the marketing staff about the importance of digital platform and
how it can be implemented for successful marketing.
3. Literature review on change management skills
The manager who is handling the changing management process should have the skills for envisioning the
change that has to happen in the company. A clear vision has to be developed and hence the leader should be a
visionary. Excellent communication skills are required for communicating this vision to the employees and they
should be convinced about the requirement for the change. many individuals will be unwilling to change because
of the fear of uncertainty, (Mujtaba, 2013). Hence it is important for a leader who manages change to develop
relationships with the employees and developed trust among employees meet the challenges. The motivation,
trust and involvement that their employees achieve will ensure the employee engagement in the process. Hence
a leader should be a good motivator and he should be a good listener to understand the requirements of the
employees. Change manager should have excellent planning skills and should be able to develop strategy for
changes at each stage, (Shriberg, and Harris, 2014). He should have clarity about the requirements of change
and should be able to implement the change. The ability of a manager in collecting feedbacks and monitoring
the situation is also crucial in developing an organisational change. The change manager should take the
change process to the next level by making it part of the organisational culture adventure that certain values that
will benefit the change are incorporated in the culture.
Change management has different levels. The basic change management involves individual management,
organisational change management and enterprise change management. When the change is managed
properly it enables the employees of the organisation to work together and achieve the goals of the organisation.
The stages through which an organisation prepares itself and implement the process of change is called change
management, (Gill, 2002). The ability of the manager or a leader who is responsible for managing the change
will define the success of this management process. The manager of the leader should have certain skills that
will be a beneficial for achieving successful change in organisation. Organisations undergo developmental
change which is important for the success of existing activities of the business. Transitional change happens
when a business activity e develops transition from a specific stage to another stage. It may be related to
growth, expansion or even mergers with other businesses. Transformational change happens when a business
plans for completely revamping the operations by introducing new products, processes procedures or even
organisational structures.
crucial for making change successful.

5. Reflection

The covid-19 epidemic is changing the way in which business will be operated in the coming future. When
evaluating the opportunity that I have obtained understand that it is necessary for need to develop change
management skills which include communication and implementation. Even though I had planned all the digital
platform activities, I have encouraged limited involvement from other members in the marketing department. The
lack of involvement of other staff members could mean that they may take this sudden change in the marketing
strategy as a challenge to their position. So I should be able to convince them that the new platform will provide
the better opportunity for reaching out to the customers. For achieving this I will require relationship
development skills and I should be able to listen to the employees address there grievances.
