 Chicago Crimes dataset (from Kaggle)

Motivation

 Increasing rate of crimes has made people live in fear. Therefore, it is

necessary to control the crimes. The objective of this project is to make
crime solving easier for Police by analyzing the Crime dataset.
Research question

How are crimes distributed over different locations and time and at what places
and what time police needs to be efficient?
Findings
Top Five Crimes

A bar plot which shows no. of each

crime. We got to know that top 5
crimes are:
1) Theft
2) Battery
3) Criminal Damage
4) Narcotics
5) Assault
Findings:
An yearly and monthly analysis

 We can see that crimes

have decreased over
the time, but no. of
arrests has fallen more
drastically.
Findings:
No. of Arrests in each hour
A bar plot that describes at what hour
the arrests were done the most. We see
that for the crimes in the day time, less
arrests were done which implies police
needs to work more efficiently in the day
time
Findings:
Percentage of Arrests
against each crime:

This shows the percentage of arrests in

each crime. Although crimes like theft,
assault, battery are the most
happening crimes, the arrest
percentage is too low, that could be
the reason why the crime rate is high in
such crimes.
Findings:
Crime Count in each hour

 This shows which

crimes happen more
during the day or night.
We can see some
crimes like theft,
burglary happen more
in the time of 8-18
while others like
battery, criminal
damage, robbery, etc
happen more during
the night.

Location-wise Analysis
 Some places are more dangerous
at night and some are dangerous at
more dangerous during the day.
