become a Supreme Bishop of Iglesia Filipina Independiente, an independent Catholic Church in
the form of a national church in the Philippines.

The story behind of Aglipayan Church is being unable of the Filipino priest to lead the Catholic
Church of the Philippines.
1896 - The Philippine Revolution was not only a conflict of political issues but also religion and
races.
The Friars of Catholic Church has authoritarian regime controlling its citizens via state control of
politics, the monetary system, media, and the military; denying people any meaningful human
or civil rights which being full supported by Spanish Government.
1898- Apolinario Mabini a Filipino revolutionary leader wrote a letter to General Elwell Stephen
Otis a United States Army that the Spanish Friars giving a comfort to the Spanish Government
and taking up arm against the Filipino rebels.
President Emilio Aguinaldo and Archbishop Bernardino Nozaleda try to win over Gregorio
Aglipay. At 1st Aglipay follow the Archbishop orders to investigate the prevailing condition of
Nueva Segovia but when returned to Manila. He was shock to saw armed forces around the city
and immediately went to Cavite to join Aguinaldo and Revolutionary Movement.
