Visual Analysis Essay
 
Martha Stewart is a multi-millionaire businesswoman that has her own cooking show, writes
 
numerous cookbooks, publishes cooking magazines and sells her own cookware.
 
She has made her fortune by her name alone and looking at her past cooking shows, I've seen
 
 a lot of advertisements and propaganda to bring the audience in and want to cook like her.
 
Martha Stewart’s show with her mother a year ago, opened with a simple but uplifting song with
 
a picture of a vined tomato Martha introduces her mother, and they demonstrate how they are
 
going to make macaroni and cheese. The background of the show has immaculate kitchen
 
cabinets filled with every dish imaginable making the audience want a kitchen like hers, which is
 
a product placement. Martha talks about her upbringing with her mother and a recipe she use to
 
 make when they were low-income and back then no food was wasted. This tactic brings in the
 
audience because, in this country alone, the poverty rate is high. This makes Martha relatable in
 
 many other levels to her audience. Every time she adds her ingredients, the camera zooms into
 
the pot and it shows that it is very easy to make this recipe with Martha’s direction as she
 
narrates what she does with every single step.
 
This show makes you feel that any meal can be made with leftover ingredients to stretch a
 
dollar out within your budget and what to use in your kitchen to make a home cooked meal, As
 
the show closes, the instrumental guitar melody fades into the background with subtle
 
colors. The Martha Stewart show ended its seven-year run During that time, Martha
 
invited Snoop Dogg as a guest on her show to teach him her signature mashed potatoes The
 
 audience enjoyed their show and had many people laugh at Snoop’s sense of humor.
 
Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg had their very own TV show called Martha & Snoop ‘s Potluck
 
 Dinner Party’ in 2016. Snoop Dogg is a rapper, music producer and actor. He grew up in Long
 
Beach, California and was discovered by Dr Dre, another music producer and actor. Hip hop.
 
 Dre’s album. Soon after the debut, snoop was making his own albums and even made a
 
 reggae album after spending time in Jamaica.
 
He founded a youth football league for inner city kids to help them develop skills to perform at a
 
higher level in football to stay out of trouble and to give them some direction in their lives. He is
 
in everything from commercials to movies. Both celebrities have made their name in
 
 different industries, but who would have known their chemistry on television would work?
 
Maybe the thing that brought them together is the time spent in prison, or they just have a
 
natural chemistry that brings their audience to laugh and enjoy the show because the world is
 
 judgmental and segregated more than it was a few years ago before President Trump.  Both
 
 celebrities made another commercial that debuted on March 25, 2019 using the re-enactment
 
of a scene from the ‘Titanic’ movie. It starts with Martha Stewart smiling, and the theme song of
 
Celine Dion’s “My Heart Will Go” an instrumental solo with the flute playing at the beginning 
 
Most people that watched “Titanic” knows the song that became famous for this movie. You see
 
a kitchen with cabinets and marble pinkish - blue clouds in the distance from the windows, The
 
 imagery is what you would love your kitchen to look like, Martha turns around and Snoop Dogg
 
appears. He says How splendid to see you Marth……’ Martha shushes him, and she pulls him
 
in and positions him in front of her, as, he lifts his arms up. The camera shows kitchen hood
 
lights flicker and Celine’s voice is now joining the instrumental part of the song. Then Snoop has
 
his eyes closed and is smiling, being guided by Martha how Rose was being held at the front of
 
 the ship of the “Titanic” movie by Jack. The wind starts to blow towards Snoop and Martha; her
 
hair is flying, windows fly open like they are on the “Titanic” on the open sea.
 
The camera zooms out and shows where the kitchen island should be, but it knows it’s a part of 

a boat to mimic the front of the “Titanic” It shows Snoop holding two deep frying baskets full of
 
uncooked sweet potato fries in each hand, then Martha caresses his hands just like in the movie
 
“Titanic” Martha whispers to Snoop”, open your eyes” and he looks and says,” I am frying
 
Martha, I am frying. ‘When in the movie, Rose says she is flying she is flying. Then the scene
 
ends when Snoop closes his eyes again and Martha smiles at the camera and the title of them
 
show promotion come up which reads “Martha & Snoop's Potluck Party Challenge VHI “as the
 
 commercial zooms out and scene fades. This kind of commercial would be a testimonial
 
advertisement because it is using celebrities to promote their upcoming potluck challenge.
 
Two very different people that have lived their lives in the public eye in years and even them
 
downfalls were also displayed in the media to come on top with a show that is very humorous
 
that captivates both of their audiences to enjoy a different kind of cooking show. I can relate
 
more to Snoop Dogg because in their first time they have done the mashed potato
 
 demonstration, Martha told him to add butter and he asked” Is this parkway or margarine? “
 
“Martha laugh. She told him she uses real butter. Snoop is also a mess in the kitchen; you can
 
tell he does not cook Neither can I, but it is so relatable to a lot of young people that do not cook
 
 often. The playfulness of Snoop and Martha still trying to do step by step recipes and trying to
 
keep Snoop on track is funny. I think shows that are the funniest ones like the “Titanic” parody
 
works and I had to play it repeatedly. Also, I think that this movie makes me want to
 
 see more of it; it is very persuasive; it keeps you wanting to more or investigate more comedic
 
 performance by these two celebrities trying to cook in the kitchen, it also made me want to
 
watch the “Titanic” once again which was one of my favorite movies and I imagine a lot of the
 
audience probably sense the same thing listening to Celine Dion’ s song. It could also be a use
 
 as a bandwagon technique to get people to watch their show because of the humor between
 
them. With everything going on in the world, they picked a movie that everyone has seen and to
 
 put them at the forefront to promote this unique dynamic duo is pure gold filled with laughter.
