Problem Solving (5pts each)

1. An automobile moving at a constant velocity of a 15 m/s passes a gasoline station. Two


seconds later, another automobile leaves the gasoline station and accelerates at a constant
rate of 2 m/s2. How soon will the second automobile overtake the first?

2. A ball is dropped from a building 100 m high. If the mass of the ball is 10g, after what time will
the ball strike the earth?

3. A baseball is thrown from a horizontal plane following a parabolic path with an initial velocity
of 100 m/s at an angle of 30 degrees above the horizontal. How far from the throwing point
will the ball attain its original level?
