It is well-known that there are some differences in the ways girls and boys learn and study.

Sometimes you can hear people saying that girls are more hard-working than boys. Moreover, they
are thought to get better results at school.

As I see it, since I started Secondary Education I have noticed that, indeed, girls usually get higher
grades, whereas boys get lower marks and in many cases they even fail.

This fact can be the consequence of several factors.

Firstly, female students are more organized with their tasks and time. Besides, they tend to show a
more remarkable interest when they have to study, in order to achieve their goals.
On the contrary, a great number of male students are more interested in sports or games; it seems
that they would rather play a football match than do homework.
Secondly, there are some figures that back up this opinion. More than 80% of girls finish the
secondary education, while boys come up to a 69%.

There are also cultural and social factors which can have some influence in this matter. According
to the Spanish psychologist Martinez Otero, boys are less observant and meticulous than girls.
We must take into account the fact that a significant part of student boys are eager to finish their
studies and begin to work; this way, they can be independent and make a living. This could be the
result of the male role in our society throughout centuries. It has been assumed for ages that men
must have a job to support the family and women could choose to stay at home.

All in all, it is clear that there are exceptions and we shouldn't generalize. After all, the question is
whether you are willing to study or not, regardless your sex.
