A. Background
It must be admitted that education is an indicator of a nation's progress. Related to this, one of the
facilities and infrastructure that supports formal and informal education in Indonesia is schools and other
extracurricular activities. This school, which consists of various levels of education, be it elementary,
junior high or high school, remains in terms of its implementation towards the goals of the 1945
Constitution, namely Educating the Nation's Life. To face the rapid development of this era, students
certainly need provisions or abilities that they can bring to society in the future. One of these abilities is
speaking English which has become a means of communication in the international world.

Therefore, BEM POLMED which prioritizes English Active Speaking, on this occasion will hold an
event that will compete the English knowledge skills of Polmed students.

This activity that we made is also in commemoration of the 13th Anniversary of Medan. So that BEM
POLMED in collaboration with the Department of Youth Sport and Culture Education Medan plans to
hold an English competition between students in Polmed under the name English Speech Competition,
which will compete in several categories in the field of English skills and participated Students of
Polmed.

B. Goals of Activity
The objectives of implementing this activity are:

1. Improve students' ability in speaking English.

2. Increase students' creativity in applying English as a communication tool.

3. Motivating students' interest in deepening English.
