ISP is an Internet Service Provider, i.e. a company that allows internet access for a fee. Usually, a dial-up
connection is used to connect to an ISP, through the telephone line, but also through broadband. Not
infrequently, an ISP can offer other services in addition, such as e-mail accounts and spaces for creating
websites.

The DNS or Domain Name System, deals with resolving domain names, of a private or public network, into
an IP address. The DNS service is a distributed hierarchical database and contains all "domain name / IP
address" matches, all of which is kept up by the DNS server. Its main function is to serve for the resolution
of the names of a domain name in an IP address.
