Seton Hill University Learning Objectives

Seton Hill University is a liberal arts school that gives you a very diverse education. The
learning objectives consist of strong written and oral communication skills, ability to think
critically and solve problems, awareness of global issues and other cultures, capacity to
collaborate and work among diversity, and sensitivity to ethical dimensions and strong self-
discipline. They are very closely related to the mathematical objectives. You can see strong
written and oral communication skills in the mathematics objective of communicate
mathematics effectively. This is a very essential tool no matter what type of field you go into.
There were many projects in applied statistics and probability in statistics where we had to
explain the work we were doing. Personally, I am going into engineering and I will have to be
able to explain the work I do in my creations. The historical impact of mathematics can be seen
in multiple Seton Hill learning objectives. Learning from the past and being able to examine
what we have done will take mathematical knowledge. A class that is centered around the
history of mathematics is reading in mathematics where we have discussions about past
mathematics. In engineering learning from your mistakes is crucial. IF you are to make the same
mistake with innovation over and over again, you will never make any progress. The
mathematical objective of effective collaborations in teams is seen in the learning objective of
capacity to collaborate and work among diversity. Being able to work in teams is very essential
to the modern work life. Almost nobody will be able to work alone in the field of engineering.
Seton Hill and the mathematics program gave me the opportunities to build my teamwork skills
through group presentations and labs. The mathematics objective of experiment with new
ideas, techniques and concepts is seen in the learning objective of ability to think critically and
solve problems. Many classes at Seton Hill University have challenged me to experiment and
solve problems, but physics lab is the class where it was most prevalent. With engineering
solving problems and experimenting with new ideas is the job definition. Being able to sharpen
those skills will help benefit my future as an engineer. Modeling an ethical code of conduct
relates to everything you do as a college student. You need to make good decisions in daily life
and in the classroom. If you procrastinate or make bad decisions to not go to class, it can make
an impact on how you do. Doing the right thing was the necessary thing to succeed at Seton Hill
University in the mathematics program. Seton Hill University and the mathematics program
gave me the necessary tools for the future to succeed.
