The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre at Sydney Harbour in Sydney, New South
Wales, Australia. It is one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings.
Designed by Danish architect Jorn Utzon, but completed by an Australian architectural team headed up by Peter
Hall, the building was formally opened on 20 October 1973 after a gestation beginning with Utzon's 1957 selection as a
winner of an international design competition. The Government of New South Wales, led by the premier, Joseph Cahill,
authorized work to begin in 1958 with Utzon directing construction.
The building and its surrounds occupy the whole of Bennelong Point on Sydney Harbour, between Sydney Cove
and Farm Cove, adjacent to the Sydney central business district and the Royal Botanic Gardens, and close to the Sydney
Harbour Bridge.
Though its name suggests a single venue, the building comprises multiple performance venues which together
are among the busiest performing arts centers-hosting well over 1,500 performances annually, attended by more than 1.2
million people. Performances are presented by numerous performing artists, including four resident companies: Opera
Australia, The Australian Ballet, The Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. As one of the most
popular visitor attractions in Australia, the site is visited by more than eight million people annually, and approximately
350,000 visitors take a guided tour of the building each year. The building is managed by the Sydney Opera House Trust,
an agency of the New South Wales State Government.
On 28 June 2007, the Sydney Opera House became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Mohammad Hatta is often remembered as Bung Hatta was an Indonesian politician who served as its first vice
president. Known as "The Proclamator", he and a number of Indonesians, including the first president of Indonesia,
Sukarno, fought for the independence of Indonesia from the Dutch. Hatta was born in Fort de Kock, Dutch East Indies
(now Bukittinggi, Indonesia). After his early education, he studied in Dutch schools in the Dutch East Indies and studied in
the Netherlands from 1921 until 1932.
He went to the Dutch language elementary school in Padang from 1913 to 1916 after he had finished Sekolah
Melayu ('Malay School') in Bukittinggi. When he was thirteen, he passed an exam that entitled him to enroll in the Dutch
secondary school in Batavia (now Jakarta). However his mother asked him to stay in Padang because he was still too
young to go to the capital alone. Hatta then entered junior secondary school or MULO.
During his spare time, he worked part-time in a post office. Normally, MULO students were not allowed to work,
but he was able to work there because of the HBS exam qualification. Hatta was interested in football; he joined his
school's football team and was made its chairman. He broadened his sphere of contacts by using his position.
Hatta used to visit the office of the Sarikat Usaha (United Endeavor), led by Taher Marah Soetan. In the office, he
read Dutch newspapers, particularly about political debates in the Volksraad (parliament) of the Dutch East Indies. It was
at the age of sixteen that Hatta began to be interested in politics and national movements. He was chosen the treasurer of
the branch of the Jong Sumatranen Bond (or youth association of Sumatra), which was first established in Padang in 1918.

Indonesia. She founded the first school for woman in the Dutch East Indies. She was honoured as a National Hero Of
Indonesian in 1966.
She was born to Sundanese noble parents, R. Rangga Somanegara and R.A. Rajapermas in Cicalengka, on
December 1884. As a child, after school she often pretended to be a teacher while playing with her friends. After her
father died, she lived with her uncle. She received an education in Sundanese culture while under his care, while her
knowledge of Western culture was passed on to her from the wife of a resident assistant. In 1899, she moved to
Bandung.
On 16 January, she founded a school named Sekolah Isteri at Bandung Regency’s Pendopo which later was
relocated to Jalan Ciguriang and the school name changed to Sekolah Kaoetamaan Isteri ( Wife Eminency School) in
1910. In 1921, there were nine schools in cities or regencies in West Java ( half of the cities and regencies), and in 1920
all of cities and regencies had one school. In September 1929, this school changed its name to Sekolah Raden Dewi.

Charles Robert Darwin was born in Shrewsbury, England, on February 12, 1809. He came from a wealthy family
and never had to work. He studied medicine and theology. In 1831 he graduated from University of Cambridge with a
degree of theology.
He began a career as a scientist quite by chance. On December 27,1831, he joined the crew of the HMS Beagle as
a naturalist. The five-year expedition collected hydrographic, geologic, and meteorological data from South America and
many other regions around the world. His own observation on this voyage led to his theory of natural selection.
He was greatly influenced by the geologist Adam Sedgwick and naturalist John Henslow in his development of the
theory of natural selection, which was to become the foundation concept supporting the theory of evolution. Darwin’s
theory holds that environmental effects lead to varying degrees of reproductive success in individuals and groups of
organisms. Natural selection tends to promote adaptation in organisms when necessary for survival. This revolutionary
theory was published in 1859 in Darwin’s now famous on “The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection.”

The Flatiron Building is one of the most famous historic landmarks in New York. The iconic twenty-one story
building, best known for its triangular shape, was one of the early spectacular high-rises that have come to define
Manhattan.
It was constructed between 1901 and 1903 at the intersection of Broadway and Fifth Avenue, at the time one of
the most prominent locations in New York City. It is situated near Madison Square at the end of the Ladies' Mile, one of
Manhattan's most important shopping districts at the turn of the nineteenth century.
It was designed by Chicago's Daniel Burnham as a steel-frame skyscraper clad in white terra-cotta. At 21 stories
and 307 ft (93 meters), it was one of the city's tallest buildings. It was not - as is often incorrectly thought - the tallest
building in the world or even the tallest building in New York (these titles belonged to the Park Row Building, built in
1899), but its singular shape and prominent location soon made it one of New York City's most famous landmarks.
The building probably featured on more postcards than any other building of its time. The whole area, the
Flatiron district, was even named after the building. Originally the Flatiron Building featured an observation deck on the
top floor, but taller buildings have taken over this function. It is still, however, a popular tourist attraction, and one of the
most photographed landmarks in New York.
