Exercise 2

Task: Select a product you have recently purchased (for example, an item of fashion
clothing, music, food item, furniture, books).

Answer the following questions:

- Product: Describe the product? What type of product is it? What are its features,
attributes etc.? What do you use it for?

- Decision: Why did you decide to buy this product? Did you need it or want it?
What motivated you to purchase it? What did you think about before/during the
buying process?

- Communication: Where did you hear about the product? Did someone tell you
about it? Did you see it? Where did you see it? Was it advertised on television,
radio, in a magazine, on the Internet perhaps?

- Pricing: How much did the product cost? Was it expensive? Did you have any
choice over the price? Could you haggle? How did you pay – cash, credit card?
Where did you purchase it – in a store, on the Internet?

- Distribution: Who do you think originally made the product? Where did it
originate from? Consider how the product was delivered to you, did you pick it up
from a retail store? Was it from a vending machine? Was it delivered to you?
Where there staff involved? Where they friendly?

- Evaluation: Has/was the product useful? Would you purchase it again? Would
you tell your friends about it? Are there other better versions of these products
available which meet your needs and the needs of society better?
