Senior Project Memoir
Senior Project Memoir
I have learned a lot throughout this class and my senior project. The best part about this
class was listening to the financial advisor and learning about the importance of saving money.
Exploring my career has also been very helpful, but the project I chose was much more than
fifteen hours and required over eighty hours to study for the certification test. I now know that I
prefer hands-on learning when learning about different healthcare skills. I have learned that
working in nursing homes or long-term care facilities is not all about people going there to live
out the last of their life but can be a very rewarding career. I know that I won’t ever want to work
Due to Covid, this class was hybrid. The hybrid class model made learning skills very
difficult. I had never taken a class in which I needed to be in person for labs. Even though the
class model made it difficult to learn, this project has ignited more passion within me to help
others and begin my career. I am now more knowledgeable on skills used to care for others, and I
plan to be employed as a certified nursing assistant over the summer and throughout college. My
experience has strengthened my certainty that I want to work in the medical field and care for
others.
If I had to do this project again, I would not complete anything differently. It worked out
well for me because I knew that I wanted to take the course and gain some direct patient care
experience. I was going to take this class anyways and this project ended up killing two birds
with one stone. I would give myself an A for this project because I devoted many hours to this
project and I worked hard to learn the material of the class. My advice to next year’s seniors is to
do something that won’t feel like a huge project. Find something that you think that you would
enjoy doing, and split up the work ahead of time. Use your class time and don’t leave anything
