Sailing Instructors Needed

Sail Able Nova Scotia is a non-profit association that’s located in Halifax and run out of
the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron. We offer pleasure sail, learn-to-sail, and
competitive sailing opportunities to children and adults with a disability in a safe and
inclusive environment.

Sail Able Nova Scotia is now accepting applications for the position of instructor for our
2020 sailing season. We are seeking to employ two sailing instructors to promote and
develop our program as well as our organization.

These individuals will be responsible for the following duties:

 Assist with the maintenance & seasonal preparations of equipment


 Launching and retrieving sailboats
 Operating and maintaining our fleet
 Daily safety checks and filling out log books
 Assisting individuals on and off our boats
 Providing sailing instruction to our members both on and off the water
 Assist with the learn-to-race program & support our participants at local regattas
 Assist with end of season maintenance & storage of equipment

Candidate Requirements;

 Must be between the ages of 15 & 30


 Must be CANSail 1 & 2 Instructor Certified
 Valid First Aid / CPR certification
 Pleasure craft operators card (PCOC)
 VHF operators card (ROC-M)
 Must have a desire to learn and a willingness to adapt in any situation
 As per Sail Canada’s guidelines, all instructors require a current Police
Background Check.

Our sailing program is approximately 10 weeks long from mid-June to the end of
August. Instructors will be hired for at 35 hours per week. The position pays an hourly
wage of $15.
