Transport in Lima

It is a well-known fact that on the streets of Lima there are many buses, microbuses, taxis and
the popular ‘mototaxis’.  This essay discusses the large number of old buses on the streets of
Lima as well as considering there are few bike lanes.

There are a lot of old buses on the streets of Lima generating pollution, On the other hand, the
large number of cars that circulate at the same time generate one of the worst traffic jams in
South America.

By having so many private cars on the streets of Lima, two problems are generated: The few
places to park them and the traffic jam at rush hours. Limiting the use of private cars and using
public transport we can solve these problems.

Another problem is the few bike lanes. These bike lanes play an important role in the solution
of the traffic jam in Lima since using bikes people can arrive early to their places of work or
homes.

In conclusion we have to face two problems: pollution and the traffic jams using bikes and
avoiding the use of private cars.
