SIOP Language Analysis Name: Krista Voelker

Lesson Language Objective:

Students will present their work to their small group and share the everyday object that
they noticed and highlighted in their drawing.

Domain Practice:
Listening: Students have to listen to the instructions from the teacher for how to
complete their project.
Speaking: Students are not practicing speaking in the original lesson plan, but I added
a speaking opportunity in the language objective.
Reading: Students are not practicing reading in the original lesson plan but I could add
reading opportunities to the lesson. I could have step by step instructions at each table
for students to read along with the teacher. This would be a good way to model
reading instructions and following instructions.
Writing: Students practice writing when answering the VTS analysis worksheet and
completing the artist statement.

Group Configuration:
I would group students in small groups in varying language abilities and attitudes. I
would make sure that English Language Learners and students who need more time
and assistance with writing are grouped with students who are kind and willing to work
together for each other’s benefit. Just because students are high achievers does not
mean they are good partners to students who may need additional support.
