Q1. Write down the family background of Hazrat Zainab bint e Khuzaimah (R.A) and her marriage to
Holy Prophet (PBUH).

Ans. Hazrat Zainab bint e Khuzaimah (R.A) was the daughter of Khuzaimah bin Abdullah. She was
first married to Abdullah bin Jahsh. Abdullah bin Jahsh was martyred in the battle of Uhud. She was
twice married before being widowed in the battle of Uhud.

As a widow she led a life of poverty. She received many offers to marry but rejected for some
reasons. Due to service of her martyred husband the Holy prophet pbuh proposed her which she
accepted, and they were married in 5 A.H. She became the 5th wife of the Holy Prophet pbuh. At the
time of marriage, she was at the age of 30.

Her companionship with the Prophet pbuh was noticeably short as She died within three months of
this marriage and was buried in Jannat ul Baqi. Holy Prophet pbuh himself led her funeral prayer.
Thus, she was the only wife of the Holy Prophet pbuh who died during his lifetime other than
Khadija.

Q2. Explain her services for Islam.

Ans. Hazrat Zainab bint e Khuzaimah (R.A) was one of the early Qurashite convert. She was known as
Umm ul Maskeen (mother of the poor and needy) This title was given by the Holy Prophet pbuh. She
was a very generous and pious lady who used to regularly feed the poor. It is said no poor person
ever returned empty handed from her house.
