problems such as dysmenorrhea and how women deal with the pain and other things that comes with
menstruation.

 Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are treatment for Primary dysmenorrhea because they shut down
prostaglandins. Naproxen last upto 12 hours.
 Tramadol (opioids) should not be used for pain relief as they have addictive potential and can cause
constipation
 NSAIDs reduce intrauterine pressure and should be taken 1-2 days before menstruation starts or during
cycle.
 Heating treatment is as effective as NSAIDs
 Surgical approaches are not recommended for primary dysmenorrhea. Ablation and hysterectomy should
not be considered in adolescents
 Refer to pediatric and adolescent gynecology when no resolution of pain with empiric therapy in 3-6 months
