ACCURA Sampling Device

1. System Description
Injecting a pressurized petroleum stream into an analytical system such as a Gas Chromatograph (GC)
or MultiTek is a challenge.
Uncontrolled self-expansion of the Liquid sample can lead to discrimination effects, which impacts
method precision negatively.

PAC now offers a dedicated solution for accurately injecting pressurized samples into GC and
Elemental analyzers. The PAC ACCURA vaporizes the sample under controlled conditions, maintaining
full sample integrity.
ACCURA providing excellent precision and accuracy, and is extremely simple to operate. Moreover, it
will tell the operator when line pressures are low enough and it is considered safe to disconnect the
sample bomb from the inlet, providing unsurpassed safety.

The PAC ACCURA Propylene/LPG Sample Introduction Device is based on a temperature controlled
expansion of the sample.
A few ACCURA Highlights:
• ACCURA respects the sample integrity: More reliable data with best Accuracy and Precision
Sulfinert treated sample path.
• ACCURA automates the complete sampling cycle - All Temperature and Pressure parameters
are stored including sample pressure and atmospheric pressure (Elemental only)
• ACCURA makes things simple
• Repeated injections for Elemental analyzers (Max 47 per run)
• ACCURA offers additional safety benefits: In-line pressure monitoring signals operator when
it’s safe to disconnect

➔ ACCURA is Simpler, Safer and more Reliable!

True Turn-Key Solution

The ACCURA Sampling Device is a true Turn-Key Solution when configured with MultiTek or Gas
Chromatograph. The solution is fully configured, pre-tuned to application (when connected to GC or
MT in order), calibrated with qualified reference materials and tested before delivery.

This allows for fastest installation by one of our global support team members, and a very smooth
integration into the lab workflow. The ACCURA can also be delivered as an add-on to an existing
MultiTek, ElemeNtS or Agilent GC.

Method Compliancy

The ACCURA allows for doing analyses according typical gas and LPG analysis methods such as
D2163, ASTM D6667, ASTM D7551 and EN 17178.

Sample scope

The ACCURA is intended to be used for the vaporization of liquefied petroleum gases (liquids under
pressure) prior to analysis by Multitek, ElemeNtS or GC. Liquefied Petroleum gases (LPG) typically
are Hydrocarbon mixtures that consist of Propane, Butane, Isobutane, Butylenes, Propylene and
traces of heavier Hydrocarbons. Concentration of Pentane and heavier Hydrocarbons must be lower
than 2 volume % (ASTM D-1835-18a).

Main Features

• Data with highest accuracy and precision, uncompromised sample integrity

• Simple to use
• Maximum safety for operators.
• Can be used for MultiTek and GC, Gas and liquids.
• Repeated injections in one run (MultiTek only)

AC reference materials are designed and produced to be intrinsic part of your laborator y quality system.
They are used for testing the equipment and application prior to delivery and for qualification on -site during
installation. After that they offer you a full QC-program for the lifetime of the instrument.
AC offers a range of materials to calibrate your system, ‘certified finished products’ and other QC checks
that will hold up in any QC-audit.
Most often these materials have been part of extensive Round Robin tests in the industry, and have ensured
successful installation of hundreds of AC lab-solutions.

• A Full range of liquid calibration standards, QC checks and ‘finished product’ reference materials.
• Round Robin tested, certified & proven values
• Stringent Quality Control on manufacturing, storage and shipping
• MSDS
• All samples come chromatograms and a comprehensive booklet to guide you to a better QC system in

Company profile
PAC / AC Analytical Controls® (AC) is the recognized leader in specialty chromatography analyzer
solutions for petroleum, petrochemical and refinery, gas, and natural gas analysis markets. Our
analytical innovations have defined instrumentation standards since 1981 across the entire spectrum
of hydrocarbon-based product streams, including gasoline, naphtha, crude oil, residues, and various
gaseous products such as natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
AC is also a recognized partner for any custom-engineered GC solution. Our team is dedicated to
designing, building and testing quality solutions, fully tailored to your needs.

Application testing
AC instruments and solutions are built to the highest standards using proven and robust hardware
based on the Agilent Technologies platform. AC Analytical Controls® is certified under ISO 9001:2008
standards. Before the system leaves the AC Analytical Controls B.V. facility, the following items are
checked:

Leak testing
The complete system is pressurized both in on and off position of the valves, including the
sample loops present. The system will not exceed a pressure drop of more than 10 kPa in 10
minutes.

Hardware control test

The system is checked for functioning of all hardware present. This includes checking heated
zones, flow and pressure control modules, detectors and valves (if present).

Analytical performance test

This AC customized analyzer is fully checked on its analytical capabilities. As standard, the
instrument is tuned to achieve proper component separation and is calibrated on the
components of interest. Any additional performance parameters can be tested on request, such
as detection limit, repeatability, resolution etc.

The results of this factory test are documented and shipped with every instrument for future
reference. The documentation includes:
• Analysis description
• Startup procedures
• Actual settings
• Hardware description
• Sample preparation and sample handling
• Method description
• Test Results

Application warranty
AC analysers are covered by application warrantee; this is additional to the standard hardware
warrantee of 1 year. This means that besides making sure the hardware is functional, also the
analytical performance of your analyser is guaranteed allowing your lab to generate reliable data
from the moment of commissioning. Application warrantee is valid from one year and can be
extended by the purchase of a services contract.

Page 15 of 16 [ACCURA Technical Offer 2018.2 www.paclp.com

Factory acceptance testing
A Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) allows for verification of the instruments performance to the
agreed specifications at the AC factory by means of calibrations or sample analysis prior to
shipment. Such acceptance test needs to be requested and ordered separately.
The factory acceptance test procedure is documented in the AC quality system and includes the
following steps:
• Overview of the ordered hardware and if applicable the software
• AC representative explains the details of the AC application
• Analysis of a control sample for this particular application
• Analysis of a customer sample for this particular application
• Evaluation of the complete analysis and test results
• Comparison of the results with the agreed specifications
• Signing the Factory Acceptance Documents for approval

Any non-conformity to the agreed specifications will be resolved by AC before shipment of the
analyser.

Installation & familiarisation

The instrument is installed at the customer’s facilities by a trained AC engineer. After the engineer
has verified instrument functionality, reference samples will be analysed to check instrument
performance according to the agreed specifications.
A customer representative is required to be present during the installation. After instruments are
installed and performing OK, the AC engineer will familiarize the customer or its representative
with the instrument. This makes sure that after the engineer leaves site, the instrument is ready for
routine operation and the customer is aware how to operate the analyser for this purpose.

After sales support

AC Analytical Controls also offers you a full range of support tools to ensure the analytical integrity
and performance of your analyser, such as consumables and spare parts, calibration and reference
samples, classroom and on-site training, service contracts, modem support and the AC Response
Center service.

AC Response Center
The AC Response Center is a help desk, operated by our service engineers and application specialists
and is a key support tool. Unlimited, free of charge remote assistance by the AC Response Center is
included with the instrument purchase and is valid for the lifetime of the instrument. Because the
results of the detailed applications testing are stored in our database, our engineers are usually able
to quickly identify any issues with your application by comparing settings and results. As a result,
advice to laboratory staff on how to proceed can be quickly provided. This offers a unique
advantage for our customers, and experience has shown that close to 90% of support calls can be
resolved remotely. This means you do not only save on labour costs for service visits but also
significantly improve instrument uptime.
