1. Poverty in US
Poverty is a state of deprivation, lacking the usual or socially acceptable amount of
money or material possessions. This measure recognizes poverty as a lack of those
goods and services commonly taken for granted by members of mainstream society
.The most common measure of poverty in the U.S. is the "poverty threshold" set by
the U.S. government. Poverty rates are persistently higher in rural and inner city
parts of the country as compared to suburban areas Comparing poverty levels
among countries is difficult, because a variety of factors are at play. The official
number of poor in the United States in 2008 is about 39.1 million people, greater in
number but not percentage than the officially poor in Indonesia which has a far
lower Human Development Index and the next largest population after the United
States. While the percentages appear the same, the actual income is not the same
among both groups of people living below their nation's poverty levels.

Absolute poverty in terms of US

It was originally defined by the United Nations in 1995 as "a condition
characterized by severe deprivation of basic human needs including: food, safe
drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter, education and information. It
depends not only on income but also on access to services. In 2008, extreme
poverty widely refers to earning below the international poverty line of $1.25/day
set by the World Bank.
Relative poverty in terms of US
Another way of looking at poverty in relative terms. Relative poverty can be
defined as having significantly less income and wealth than other members of
society. Therefore, the relative poverty rate is a measure of income inequality.
When the standard of living among those in more financially advantageous
positions rises while that of those considered poor stagnates, the relative poverty
rate will reflect such growing income inequality and increase. Conversely, the
relative poverty rate can decrease, with low income people coming to have less
wealth and income if wealthier people's wealth is reduced by a larger percentage
than theirs. Besides the number of unemployment also increased in US. People are
facing crisis. Therefore, their new president Donald trump take the foreign citizens
out of the country for what their local citizens get jobs.

2. Poverty conditions in US

1. Most Americans will spend at least one year below the poverty line at some
point between ages 25 and 75.
2. In 2015, 13.5% (43.1 million) Americans lived in poverty.
3. The proportion in poverty in 1969 stood at 12.1%. By 2011 it had risen to
15.0%. A larger proportion of Americans lived in official absolute poverty in 2011
than 42 years earlier.
4. The situation is even worse for American children. Among children, the 2011
poverty rate was 21.9%, up from 14.0% in 1969. The disproportionate increase in
child poverty has been due to the proliferation of single parent households.
5. The poverty rate for households headed by single mothers is 34.2%.

million people, 32% of whom live below the national poverty line of US $2 per
day. In addition, child malnutrition rates are currently at 48%, in condition that is
tied to the low social status of women in Bangladeshi society.
The gap between rich and poor is very wide. Some rich people are incredibly
wealthy where laborers earn less than $1 per day. The majority of the land
in Bangladesh is owned by a few rich landowners. There are so many causes for
poverty in Bangladesh. Education, employment, rural urban distance, cheap
mentality, natural disaster and so many. There are a positive relationship exists
between flood risk and poverty as measured by household income, with people
living under the poverty threshold facing a higher risk of flooding, as measured by
their proximity to rivers and flood depth.

state that the poverty growth rate of US is lower due to being developed country
than the poverty growth rate of Bangladesh. But, poverty gap of US is too high
rather than Bangladesh. On the other hand, Bangladesh is relatively poor than US.
