VERBS CAN BE…

1- V: VERBS / ACTION VERBS


Show actions. We use actions verbs to show what something “does”

Example: The boy eats a hamburger.


Eats is an action.

“V: Verbs” Responden a la pregunta ¿Qué hace el sujeto?

2- LV: LINKING VERBS (state of being verbs) appear, feel, look, become, seem,
LV can link ideas to one another. Connect the complement with the subject. We use state
of being verbs to show what something “is”

Example: The boy is hungry.


“is” is connecting the word “hungry” with the word “boy”. It is linking it.

*Algunos verbos pueden ser usados en las dos formas, puede ser verbo de acción (V) o
puede ser un verbo de enlace (LV)

Example:

The boy looked at me. Verb


The boy looked hungry. Linking Verb.

Action Verb: The boy looked for his glove. - El verbo describe lo que hace el niño
Linking Verb: The boy looked tired. - El verbo describe la apariencia del niño.

3- HV: HELPING VERBS (auxiliaries) have, be, do


They help other verbs.

Example:
The boy is eating a hamburger.
The boy was eating a hamburger.
The boy has eaten a hamburger
The boy had been eating a hamburger.
The boy does not eat a hamburger.

Ayudan a especificar el tiempo.
