Pursuant to ACFI Memo dated July 2020 in accordance to the Resolutions and
Advisories, issued by Inter-agency Task Force for Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases
(IATF), DOH, City Government of Tagum City, CHED, DEPEd, TESDA, the following Guidelines
and Protocols are disseminated to all ACFI employees, students, parents and other individuals
to reduce or prevent the transmission of the COVID-19 such as
1. Staying at Home – for those having signs and symptoms of COVID-19;
2. Use of Footbath or Disinfectant and Thermometer Scan upon entrance to the school main door;
3. Limiting of Contact Between Persons – practice of Social Distancing of Six Feet distance from one person to
another;
4. No Face-to-Face Classes;
5. No Mass gathering
6. Online Transaction of Business
7. Wearing of Face Masks and Face Shields
8. Practice Respiratory Hygiene

TREND AND ISSUES
WEEK 2:
What is the origin of Covd-19?
It is believed to have zoonotic origins and has close genetic similarity to bat coronaviruses, suggesting it emerged from a
bat-borne virus. There is no evidence yet to link an intermediate animal reservoir, such as a pangolin, to its introduction
to humans.

The virus shows little genetic diversity, indicating that the spillover event introducing SARS-CoV-2 to humans is likely to
have occurred in late 2019. Epidemiological studies estimate each infection results in 1.4 to 3.9 new ones when no
members of the community are immune and no preventive measures taken.

Where did first case of Corona Virus originated?

Retrospective investigations by Chinese authorities have identified human cases with onset of symptoms in early
December 2019. While some of the earliest known cases had a link to a wholesale food market in Wuhan, some did not.

Can COVID-19 spread through food?

It is highly unlikely that people can contract COVID-19 from food or food packaging. COVID-19 is a respiratory illness and
the primary transmission route is through person-to- person contact and through direct contact with respiratory
droplets generated when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

There is no evidence to date of viruses that cause respiratory illnesses being transmitted via food or food packaging.
Coronaviruses cannot multiply in food; they need an animal or human host to multiply.
Is headache a symptom of the coronavirus disease?
The virus can cause a range of symptoms, from ranging from mild illness to pneumonia. Symptoms of the disease are
fever, cough, sore throat and headaches.

How does coronavirus disease spread?

COVID-19 is transmitted from person to person via droplets, contact, and fomites. It is transmitted when one individual
talks, sneezes, or coughs producing ‘droplets’ of saliva containing the COVID-19 virus. These droplets are then inhaled by
another person. COVID-19 transmission usually occurs among close contacts -- including family members and healthcare
workers. It is therefore important to maintain a distance of more than 1 meter away from any person who has
respiratory symptoms.
What is the recovery time for the coronavirus disease?
They found that for people with mild disease, recovery time is about two weeks, while people with severe or critical
disease recover within three to six weeks.
Who is at risk for coronavirus?
The virus that causes COVID-19 infects people of all ages. However, evidence to date suggests that two groups of people
are at a higher risk of getting severe COVID-19 disease. These are older people (that is people over 60 years old); and
those with underlying medical conditions (such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and
cancer). The risk of severe disease gradually increases with age starting from around 40 years. It's important that adults
in this age range protect themselves and in turn protect others that may be more vulnerable.

WHO has issued advice for these two groups and for community support to ensure that they are protected from COVID-
19 without being isolated, stigmatized, left in a position of increased vulnerability or unable to access basic provisions
and social care.
How dangerous is COVID-19?
Although for most people COVID-19 causes only mild illness, it can make some people very ill. More rarely, the disease
can be fatal. Older people, and those with pre- existing medical conditions (such as high blood pressure, heart problems
or diabetes) appear to be more vulnerable.

How contagious is COVID-19?

Increasing numbers of confirmed diagnoses, including in healthcare professionals, has indicated that person-to-person
spread of SARS-CoV-2 is occurring[15]. The preliminary reproduction number (i.e. the average number of cases a single
case generates over the course of its infectious period) is currently estimated to be between 1.4 to 2.5, meaning that
each infected individual could infect between 1.4 and 2.5 people [16].
Similarly to other common respiratory tract infections, MERS and SARS are spread by respiratory droplets produced by
an infected person when they sneeze or cough [17]. Measures to guard against the infection work under the current
assumption that SARS-CoV-2 is spread in the same manner.
How is COVID-19 diagnosed?
As this coronavirus affects the respiratory tract, common presenting symptoms include fever and dry cough, with some
patients presenting with respiratory symptoms (e.g. sore throat, nasal congestion, malaise, headache and myalgia) or
even struggling for breath.
In severe cases, the coronavirus can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and death [18].
The case definition for COVID-19 is based on symptoms regardless of travel history or contact with confirmed cases.
Diagnosis is suspected in patients requiring admission to hospital with signs and symptoms of pneumonia, acute
respiratory distress syndrome or influenza, and in those with a new, continuous cough or fever who are well enough to
stay in the community (see Box 1). A new symptom, a loss or changed sense of normal smell or taste (anosmia),
was added on 18 May 2020. A diagnostic test has been developed, and countries are quarantining suspected cases [19].
What does COVID-19 stand for?

'CO' stands for corona, 'VI' for virus, and 'D' for disease. Formerly, this disease was referred to as '2019 novel
coronavirus' or '2019-nCoV.' The COVID-19 virus is a new virus linked to the same family of viruses as Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and some types of common cold.
TRENDS AND ISSUES
According to Flipboard Magazine
There are four trends we observed: hardware and software, teaching and learning online, pandemic related
instructional strategies, and distance education resources. learning.
Hardware and software included resources about product updates from Samsung, the preorder opportunity for
Microsoft Surface Duo, and new features for the mobile versions of Google Suite tools. Minecraft is now available on
Chromebooks. Online Teaching and Learning focused on topics such as creating engaging course materials, strategies for
improving existing online courses, and strategies for using Zoom more effectively. Pandemic Related Instructional
Strategies focused on resources specifically about administering and teaching during a pandemic. Resources included
making the shift to online learning, social distancing concerns in F2F, learning pods, and concerns about online
cheating. Distance Education Resources focused on reviews of the best webcams and other gadgets for distance
education, video hosting options, and other general resources about distance education.
