. Equality, it’s something we lack in our current world and society. We should all be treated
as humans and not put into groups or subcategories of which we are today. What do I mean by
equality, “We’re all equal!” Some people might say. Those people have not woken up and seen
beyond their world and what is happening in our current world and society as a whole. There's
still such things as racism, differences between men and women, and medical attention! This
year many have woken up from their dreams and witnessed a spark of which we lack on May
25th, 2020 when a man that was named Geogre Flyod unfortunately passed away by an officer
named Derek Chauvin.

You would think that, “Oh! He basically murdered him? Shouldn't he be charged with
some sort of degree in murder?” Well while he was charged with second degree murder, you’d
think that he would be put to jail and think about his chocies. Well in that case yes he was
charged, but he was also let go with a 1 million dollar bail and later released. Just because he was
white.
Now let’s say what if it was a person of color who was an officer and kneeled on a white
person’s neck, and that innocent person died. Would the officer be fined for some sort a degree in
murder and be put in jail for life, and even death sentenced? Most likely. And that would be
something called white privilege.

But that’s just one way there we’re not equal. Now how about men and women? How are
they not equal, men might think “Women have just as much power then us!” that’s not true.
Women weren’t about to vote until the 1920’s and that was 132 years later after the first election,
we had to fight for our rights! Even in the 1950’s women were expected to do all the cooking and
cleaning, and taking care of the children. Everything that you would expect a housewife to do on
a daily basis.

Even today in some cultures and parts of the world women are considered to be inferior
to men, for example just recently women in Saudi Arabia women were given the right to drive.
Up until 2018 women were forbidden to drive. In Saudi Arabia men were seen to hold much
more power and be more intelligent, while women were seen to have an inferior I.Q. Women all
around the world should have the same opportunities as men would have regardless of gender.

Inequality affects many diverse areas of societies. The pandemic of 2020 has made it
evident that medical attention is unequal. People with a much higher income can afford the best
of the best insurance and have everything covered without a sweat. While people with limited
insurance, their insurance can barely cover their daily prescription and without that prescription
they would die.

I want it to be known that we should be able to work towards a world that treats everyone
equally regardless of race, color, realigion, gender, sexuality, economic class, etc. Humans are
valuable creatures, why should we treat each other differently when we’re all the same? Isn’t one
of the main lessons Jesus taught us was to love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves?
