Pain VS Magnets Project Written Answers

Pretest Pain Score Findings

Tell why you think the groups appear to be similar or different in a complete sentence.
The pain scores seem to be rated high between both groups because there has been no treatment
done so far. They were all told to deter using pain killers three hours before the experiment so
the numbers will be higher.
Post-test Pain Score Findings
Tell why you think the groups appear to be similar or different in a complete sentence.
There is a noticeable difference between the two groups. The placebo group still rated their pain
quite high because they received no real treatment while the group with the active magnets did in
fact receive the treatment and in consequence, rated their pain lower.
Change in Pain Score Findings
Tell why you think the groups appear to be similar or different in a complete sentence.
There was a large change with the group that received the active magnets because they received
the treatment. The group with the placebo experienced very little change because they did not
receive the real treatment.
Conclusion
I think this was a very interesting study. There seems to be a clear link between the use of
magnets and levels of pain based on the feedback from both groups of test subjects. The placebo
group proved that there was very little change after the fake treatments while the group who did
receive the active magnets were positively impacted. I think this experiment will change what
health care providers practice in their clinics. I can imagine as more research is done that
magnetic pain treatments will be added as an option in some care facilities.
