Wellness Medium and Your Wellness Plan

1. What medium have you chosen? Please describe and/or attach/upload visual.

For my individual medium, I chose to enjoy the warm winter and perform a running
challenge. This challenge was a one hundred challenge to run before March 1st. Pictured is
the medal I received as well as myself wearing the medal after I reached the 100 miles. This
medium was chosen to promote myself to exercise outside daily and decrease my stress
before starting my professional career.

2. What does this medium represent to you? Why? Please describe why this is meaningful.

This medium represents me as I started running in March 2020 when COVID-19 delayed my
return to Tucson. Both of my parents run so I decided to give it a try when the world was in a
state of unknown. I immediately fell in love with running and I enjoyed how I felt after all of my
runs. Running is meaningful to me because it gives me a sense of being in control of something
in my life while certain things are out of my control. This challenge has inspired me to train for a
half marathon as I completed 100 miles all within the month of January.

3. Post your personal wellness commitment statement and plan to care for YOU below. Be
specific.

As I progress into my career as a nurse, I will be sure to make time to continue my


progress in exercising outdoors. Even the days that are long or stressful, I will walk
outside to get my exercise and be outdoors. Due to the fact that I am a morning person, I
will run or walk outside in the morning on the days that I work. In doing this, I will
ensure that I work out and it will prevent me from making up excuses for not exercising
after work. On the days that I have off, I will exercise in the morning or the early
afternoon. Overall, this plan will ideally prevent me from nursing burn out, enhance my
career, and it will increase my physical and mental wellbeing.
