April 12, 2021 6 Hours paperwork with the Center Clinic.
● Gathered tools and equipment for
Nexplanon procedure and placed
them on a tray for the doctor to
use.
● Observed removal and
replacement of Nexplanon.
● Observed pap smear, abdominal
ultrasound, and removal of
Mirena.
● Practiced performing a pap smear
using a model and speculum.
● Learned about a variety of birth
control methods.
● Engaged in a confidential report
describing an overview of the
evening.

Sunday (5:00-10:00pm) ● Observed a learning tool that is

woman’s cervix is.
● Observed how to perform
inductions of labor using either
medication or mechanical tools.
● Learned how to read fetal tracings
which show the fetal heart rate
and contraction pattern.
● Observed different instruments to
help expedite a delivery.
● Observed three different sized
operating rooms where cesarean
sections and high risk deliveries
take place. As well as a neonatal
resuscitation room.
● Demonstrated how the patient’s
bed can transform from a regular
bed into a bed that is designed to
make the delivery of a baby
easier.
● Practiced the simulation of birth
with a pelvis model and baby doll
with placenta attached.
● Practiced performing different
types of stitches used for skin
closure repairs on a perineum
after birth.
● Observed a panda warmer that is
used to weigh and warm the baby
after birth. It also provides oxygen
and suction as needed.
● Observed the baby’s bassinet that
can be moved wherever since it
has wheels.
● Assisted warming donor breast
milk using a milk warmer.
● Observed how to calculate the
bilirubin level of infants using a
forehead scanner instrument to
predict if they are at low or high
risk for jaundice.
● Practiced setting up a bili light
blanket to decrease the bilirubin
levels in a newborn.
● Gathered supplies needed to
perform a circumcision procedure.
● Observed a cooling bassinet for
infants that have passed away
prior to or after birth.
● Observed some of the supplies
used for stillborn infants such as
caskets and clothing that comes in
a variety of sizes. There are also
bereavement supplies which can
be used to make different types of
molds and hand/foot prints.

Monday (12:30-5:30pm) ● Observed pap smear and removal


April 26, 2021 5 Hours of Nexplanon.
● Observed an annual oral
contraceptive prescription consult.
● Observed how to label and send
off urine samples to test for
sexually transmitted diseases.
● Observed how to draw and send
off blood samples to test for
infections, iron or hemoglobin
levels, etc.
● Printed off and replaced old
informational birth control
documents and consent forms
with newly updated documents.
● Assisted with the design and
editing of the new Center Clinic
website to enhance the quality for
viewers.
● Engaged in a confidential report
describing an overview of the
afternoon.
