How to prepare a manuscript for journal
submission

ASEAN Engineering Journal Template
Manuscripts must be submitted in ‘Microsoft Word’ format (doc./docx.) with its size
under 10 MB. DO NOT insert page number in your paper.
Full paper
A4 size, with the margins set at 0.98, 0.98, 1.18 and 0.98 inch for top, bottom, left & right,
respectively. Must be more than 5, but not over 15 pages.
Style Guide
1. Font type
2. Manuscript title
18 pt, bold, centered, spacing with 12 pt before and all capitalized.
3. Name of authors
12 pt, bold, centered and spacing with 12 pt before. Full names of all authors required.
No initials allowed. If there are two authors, put the word "and" in between without a
comma. In case of three or more authors, put a comma at the end of each author's name
More authors: Cynthia Marie Roberts, Jason Young, and Chris Smith
4. Affiliations of authors
Spacing with 6 pt before. Font size 10 pt, centered, capitalize the first letter of every
word (except the word e-mail) Must include all information in the following order:
department, faculty, university, city, country, telephone number and e-mail address (See
5. Received Date
The date which authors submit the paper to the journal. 10 pt, centered in month, date,
and year respectively and spacing with 12 pt before.
6. Abstract
Abstract head 14 pt, Abstract text 11 pt. The abstract of Full Paper are limited to 250-350
words. Format the paragraph spacing with 12 pt before.
7. Keywords
11 pt, capitalize the first letter of each keyword, put in alphabetical order. Format the
paragraph spacing with 12 pt before.

8. Heading
• Heading: 14 pt bold, and capitalize the first letter of every word. Format the
paragraph spacing with 12 pt before. Do not put any Number or Roman numeral in
front.
• Sub-Heading 1: 12 pt bold and capitalized the first letter of every word. Format
the paragraph spacing with 12 pt before. Do not put any Number or Roman numeral
in front.
• Sub-Heading 2: 12 pt Italic and capitalized the first letter of every word. Format
the paragraph spacing with 12 pt before.
• Do not designate both Heading & Sub-Heading with any Number or Roman
numeral .
9. Paragraph
First paragraph of the text starts with no indentation. Format all the paragraph spacing
with 6 pt before. The first paragraph of each section has no indentation. The Subsequent
paragraphs are indented by 0.64 inch with no spacing before them.

11. Table
Table is left justified with 0 cm indent from left. Text in tables is 12 pt Times New Roman,
and column headings are bold with first letter of every word capitalized. There should be
a spacing of 12 pt after the table. Table caption is bold with every word capitalized,
placed above the table and left justified; it is 12 pt Times New Roman and has spacing
with 12 pt before.
Figures centered, spacing 12 pt before the figure. Figure Caption placed below the
figure,centered, 12 pt Times New Roman, spacing with 12 pt before and after. Capitalize
only the first letter of the first word in the figure caption. Allow Italic font, but not bold.

Note:
1. For both tables and figures, please ensure that the caption is placed on the same page
with the table or figure they refers to.
2. Do not use abbreviation for both figure & table when they are referred within the
manuscript.
3. For figures adapted or directly copied from another source, the original source must be
referenced.

13. Equations
Equations centered, spacing 12 pt before and after. Label or Number of the equation,
right justified, put in parenthesis at the end of the equation.

14. References
References are 12 pt with 0.64 cm (1/4 inch) hanging indent. The citation should be placed at
the end of references as number in the [blanket]. The list of references must be strictly
followed
