“Y” is for Yell

Yasmin is non-verbal.
Sometimes, Yasmin starts to yell or make loud
noises when she is in class.
She is not yelling because she’s mad at you;
that’s just how she communicates!
Maybe her classmates are being too noisy...
Or maybe she is just feeling happy!
We can observe Yasmin’s facial expressions and
body language and ask her questions to find
out what she wants to communicate to us.
Just because her way of expressing herself is
different, there is no reason to treat her any
differently.
