Documentary Treatment

Title: Shoe Identity

Channel: BBC Three

Scheduling: 7pm - After teenagers get back from work or college.

Format: My documentary will be about people's love for shoes/trainers, the market
business side of it (how you can make money by reselling, the increasing interest in the
newest shoes and brands.

Purpose: I hope that people that don’t have knowledge of shoe culture, reselling and the
‘hype’ around shoes will learn about these things and maybe even become a fan of hyped
shoes. I think this documentary will shift people's views on spending a little bit extra to get
the latest shoes and maybe even interest people in reselling shoes for profit.

Target Audience: 16 - 25 year olds. I think that people of the younger generation will
appreciate the culture of ‘sneakers’ and the communities built around peoples love for
shoes or even the business side of it.

Style: My documentary will have a lighthearted/happy tone by including a very colourful

and abstract style of superimposed text and images. The main font will be sans serif and will
include complimentary colours together to be more pleasing to the eye (such as orange text
on a blue background or yellow on purple). Music included will be music from the charts to
attract younger people, with an indie pop style to broaden the audience.

Interviewees: Corey Darbyshire - One of the owners of a community of people

(server/website) who love shoes and trainers - The server gives information about when
shoes ‘drop’/release, how to buy them, different sites for clothing etc. He’s a teenager
which matches the target audience.
Danny Baines - He is a lover of shoes/trainers, he likes to buy different styles of shoes, he’s a
teenager so it matches the target audience.
Lauren Sharland - She is someone who also likes to buy different types of shoes and clothing
to match. She is a teenager which matches with the target audience, she also is a different
social group to the two other interviewees (diverse type of interviewees).

Release: 5th March 2022 - Right in the middle of Paris Fashion Week as my documentary is
shoe based - links into fashion.
