SURFACE FEEDERS
All the fish found ‘just under the surface’ have a perfectly straight back, which allows their upturned
mouths (ideal for scooping up floating foods, usually insects) to get right up to the surface. Food which
float for sometimes area ideal for these fish.
A common surface feeder is the Zebra Danio. This fish is a native of India and is very active and lively. It
can reach a size of about 5 cm and is best kept in shoals.
