Argumentative Essay

“Young Politicians can run as a President in the Philippines.”

Does anyone know how an individual qualifies to lead a nation? The knowledge to the
drive for government is a growing interest in the threats and hurdles to democracy. Individuals
elect a politician base on the growth of the candidates' wealth and their ancestral backgrounds.
Regardless of the idea that a politician is defined diversely as an individual who knows the science
of governance, that isn't to say that the youths are abstained to represent the country and its
people. Roles and expectations are associated with the youth explicitly; nevertheless, those social
beliefs can vary from society to society. Young politicians can run as president in the Philippines
since they can contribute a relevant reservoir for the country's future leaders, legislators, and
innovators. Youthful leaders can lead the Philippine government for the fact that they have and
show sensitive insights and apprised of how the administration works; they are also observant of
how the policymakers minister misleading acts; and how their contributions resolve the conflicts
of the country.

Young politicians can serve in the Philippine government since they are insightful and
apprised of how the administration shows incompetency. The youth can easily sense these kinds
of behavior because they are the ones who experience suffering due to the administration’s
inability to provide a better life for the Filipinos. According to national data (Philippine Statistics
Authority), more than 42% of Filipinos are part of the youth who are preparing to participate in
Philippine democracy. In 2019, the International Republic Institute stated that Filipino youth
participates actively in informal forms of politics like activism, volunteerism, and campaigns
through social media. They participate in these kinds of activities to fight for the sake of the
Philippines. They are voicing out their own political beliefs and letting their voices be heard.
Therewithal, they know about the issues and concerns in the country, and they give their
perspective on what they think about the country’s development. They also offer practical
solutions and responses to social narratives (Garcia, 2016).

Young politicians can serve in the Philippines as president since they are observant of
how the policymakers minister deceiving acts. It is well-known that corruption has been a problem
in the Philippines for a long time. Unfortunately, according to it became worse by 2019 when the
country ranked 113th out of 180 countries indicating that the Philippines still struggles with the
unsolved case of corruption (CNN Philippines, January 2020). The youth may have a better
mindset since they want what’s best for their future and the future of the next generations. They
have seen and experienced the ruling of past presidents which makes them more knowledgeable
about what’s right for the country and what’s not. Everyone makes mistakes, but they can avoid
making the same mistakes they’ve seen from past presidents. They would be more careful about
everything they do and think thoroughly before settling on a plan of action that would affect a
whole country.
Young politicians can serve in the Philippine legislature since their contributions resolve
the conflicts of the country. The Filipino youth can give fresh and wise ideas to give solutions to
the problems that the country is currently facing. Millennial mayors like Donya Tesoro used social
media as a platform to show the community that she is worthy to serve their municipality
(Retrieved from ABS-CBN Investigative and Research Group). Tesoro showed her contributions
to their town every day and its’ improvements in due course. For that reason, this makes people
trust her more because they can see things she’s doing for them and their town. She is only one
of the 20 millennial mayors in Mega Manila, but she already proves that being a millennial doesn’t
mean that you can’t serve in the Philippine government. Even so, the youth are still seen and
identified as incompetent by older people. They see young people as kids who don’t know
anything about what they are saying or doing. They observe that the millennials and Gen Z have
political views that are conflicting and distinctive (Ramos, 2019). Hence, they don’t get taken
seriously no matter how determined they are in voicing out their opinions. However, youth councils
prove that the youth can contribute something to the country. For instance, Debbie Bartolo, a 25-
year-old youth council at Likha Initiative showed how she works from her heart. Most of her
accomplishments are for the children. Ms. Bartolo conducted environmental workshops for the
children on Sitio Anahaw and also fosters zero-waste practices. Local governments asked her
why Likha chose to operate on Sitio Anahaw when no one dared to - Ms. Bartolo only smiled
because they made the right choice on their journey with the community (Joven, 2019). Because
of the youth councils, young people can run for politics and learn from their experience for them
to have a grasp on the political experience.

This topic will cease by giving a response to the initial question, "Does anyone know how
an individual qualifies to lead a nation?". It appears that most of the voters elect a politician who
is much older and experienced, but there should be no boundaries on their ages. There are no
particular features to be a president, those expectations on their roles threatened their
individualities. A president who cares for the sake of his country and his people truly deserves to
have that position. "A leader is a dealer in hope." —Napoleon Bonaparte. This concept explains
that no matter what circumstances you encounter, your first job as a leader is to incite hope, first
in yourself and then in other people: to build a vision that drives you and the community
to require to do what needs to be done. A young policymaker can serve the country since they
are the most influential in this era. The advancements they applied answer why they can handle
the presidency; First, they perceive how the administrations need to improve. Second, they are
observant of how the administrations worked for years and let those rulings be an alarm to avoid
it from happening again. Lastly, they are innovators - the results of their contributions are
discerned and effectual. To sum it up, young politicians are qualified to be president in the
Philippines because their competencies showed how they are bound to manage to be the head
of state.
