PRECAUTIONS AND SAFETY MEASURES FOR CONCRETE TECHNOLOGY LAB

HAZARDS CAUSED DURING THE LAB:


1. Eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation from exposure to cement dust.
2. Inadequate safety guards on equipment.
3. Inadequate lockout/tagout systems on machinery.
4. Overexertion and awkward postures.
5. Slips, trips and falls.
6. Chemical burns from wet concrete.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN:
1. Make sure that you know the location of Fire Extinguishers, First Aid Kit and
Emergency Exits before you start your experiments.
2. Get First Aid immediately for any injury, no matter how small it is.
3. Do not wear loose dress
4. Always use close shoes (i.e. safety or boots)
5. Do not play with valves, screws and nuts
6. Do not try to run and operate any machine without permission and knowledge of the
lab Personnel

MEASURES TO BE TAKEN IN CASE OF EMERGENCY:


1. In case of any heavier instrument (or) material falling on hands (or) legs , make the
person to relax and apply pain reliever spray.
2. In case of cuts, wash the wound with cold water and apply anti-bacterial powder on
it.
